Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross worked on a series of prank calls broadcast on BBC radio in 2008. Both of them lost their jobs as they were involved in the Sachsgate scandal.
They resigned from their Radio job, as the duo received massive backlash for sending obscene voice messages to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.
Following the controversy, they horrified listeners and sparked a barrage of complaints when they left obscene messages on the answerphone of Andrew Sachs. During the prank show, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross pranked with a vulgar joke about Andrew Sachs’ daughter. The 30-year-old Brand bragged about his sexual encounter with his granddaughter Georgina Baillie as he sent him a voice message.

The comedian and the chat show host made calls to Andrew Sachs, to which he did not answer. Russell Brand left a vulgar voice message saying he had sex with his granddaughter Georgina Baillie. They had a fling with Brand when she was 20 years old and got dazzled by the 30-year-old comedian Russell.
“I said something I didn’t have oughta like I had sex with your granddaughter. But it was consensual and she wasn’t menstrual, it was consensual lovely sex. It was full of respect,” said the comedian to Andrew Sachs during the prank.
What Happened After The Prank With Andrew Sachs?
Following the controversy, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross broadcast a public apology live on air after the infamous prank call made to Andrew Sach’s voicemail. Both of them were criticized by a number of MPs, including Former Prime Minister of the UK Gordon Brown, and the BBC received a record number of complaints.
As Russell Brand worked as a radio presenter for the BBC between 2006 and 2008, the company said it is “urgently looking into the issues raised” by the allegations. When the controversy took place, Director-General of the BBC Mark Thompson announced that Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross were suspended from the company.
What Does Andrew Sachs’s Granddaughter Georgina Baillie Has to Say About Russell Brand?
Following the years after the Sachsgate scandal, Georgina Baillie, now aged 38, revealed that Russell Brand went on to make “millions of pounds” out of their fling when she was just a “young girl completely dazzled by celebrity.” During a conversation with Mirror, Baillie said it was consensual and that she was not attacked by the comic but was ready to do anything, which she did.
The fling between the two turned to drugs and alcohol for the granddaughter of Andrew Sachs. She was made the ‘butt of the joke’ in his comedy routine, and Brand would later apologize to Baillie as he even paid for her rehab after he ‘knew his behavior towards me was appalling’, she added.
Following the recent sexual assault allegations between 2006 and 2013 on Russell Brand, which he denies, Georgina Baillie hopes that the women get their justice.
“I hope these alleged survivors get the help that they need. For about ten years after Sachsgate, it was very hard because I didn’t know whether I was in the wrong, so when he apologized it was a huge weight lifted off me.”
Georgina further added about Russell.
