Country singer, Miranda Lambert, has run into controversy after scolding fans at her recent concert in Las Vegas. As it turns out, the star hates people taking selfies at her shows, especially when she is singing.
As Lambert began to belt out her song “Tin Man,” she noticed some fans taking selfies and got inflamed at the sight. She paused her performance. “I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry. These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song.”
Fans recorded the scene, and the video has gone viral on TikTok. In the recording, Lambert could be heard saying, “It’s pissing me off a little bit. Sorry, I don’t like it. At all. We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music.”
While some fans argued that it was a just stance, others could not comprehend why taking selfies is suddenly disrespectful after paying tons of money for concert tickets. What’s wrong with commemorating the occasion with a few selfies?
As Lambert reprimanded fans for not paying attention to the songs, they took it as an insult and decided to leave altogether. Some other attendees were also seen leaving while saying, “Let’s go. You don’t do that to fans.”
Lambert continued her concert after the fans left, but the scene left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.
Some social media posts have suggested that the singer could have politely forbidden fans from taking selfies after finishing the song. Others defend the selfie-takers, who seemed very much in their rights to do so.
Many are of the stance that Lambert’s concert should not allow phones if taking selfies is prohibited. Others have pointed out that The Tin Man might have been one of the girl’s favorite songs, and she was just trying to record the moment forever.
This is not the first time that Lambert has stopped her concert to reprimand a fan. She did the same in a 2017 concert and in some other shows before that.
However, before people start blaming the singer, you should closely examine how the fans were clicking their selfies. In one video, the fans in question were recorded who were gathering right in front of the stage and taking photos with their flash on. It was disrupting the experience of many fans as more and more people kept gathering till Lambert interfered.
