A scandal is slowly tearing apart the NBA fandom, and it’s all thanks to Josh Giddey.
In newly released videos and pics from an anonymous source, he has been seen doing something that will make anyone’s eyebrows shoot up their forehead.
In fact, the Oklahoma City Thunder player might have just brought on statutory r*pe charges against him.
So what has he done?
Videos show Oklahoma City Thunder’s 21-year-old Josh Giddey with an allegedly minor girl (14/15 years old) called Livv Cook. She is rumored to have bragged about having sexual intercourse with Josh. The age of consent in Oklahoma and Australia is 16. Thunders’ management hasn’t released a statement as of November 24, 2023.
What Is Josh Giddey Getting Slandered Online?
Oklahoma City Thunder’s Josh Giddey is 21 years old and a rising star in the NBA. He has an average of 5.7 rebounds, 12.3 points, and 4.5 assists in the current season.
However, he is currently in hot water and receiving a lot of criticism, not for his stats or play, but for allegedly being in a relationship with a minor.
The alleged underage girl, Livv Cook, uploaded videos and photos where she claimed that she had slept with the player. She allegedly uploaded it on the now-deleted Twitter/ X account called @creaktwizz and captioned it with: “I just f**ked Josh Giddey. He says hi.”
In one of the photos, he can be seen with his arms around her neck, and in another, he is with her alleged brother. So it does look like he is comfortable and knows them. Also, in another video, Giddey refers to Livv as “my girl.”
Initially, the pics were uploaded anonymously, but since then, the source has deleted the photos. But by then, they had gone viral. The anonymous person who posted the rest of the content captioned it as:
“Josh Giddey from the OKC Thunder with an underage girl. First video, he is talking to her brother. This is Disgusting, and this man needs to be punished. We can’t let this go under the surface any longer. This needs to be seen. Girl is a junior in high school.”
No other context was given.
Because of this disastrous allegation, many think that Josh will get fired. The reason? He allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor who is rumored to be 14 or 5 years old.
As per the Oklahoma Criminal Defense, the age of consent in the state is 16 years. Also, the legal age of consent in Australia is 16/17 years, depending on the state and residence.
So, if it gets proven that Livv is indeed younger than that, then Giddey is committing a crime. However, there’s no way to verify her age from the videos and pictures posted.
Also, it’s not sure if the pics posted are from the past or are recent. As of writing, Oklahoma City Thunder haven’t issued any statement about Josh Giddey. Also, the Australian has kept silent about the scandal currently unfolding.
However, many don’t think much will come out of it, even if any wrongdoing gets proven. On the NBA subreddit, user AleroRatking posted,
“We know where it falls. No suspension, and the player gets celebrate. Look at Malone.”
Another user, LegendRazgriz, hinted,
“Whoever posted ‘Josh Giddey going after girls the same age as his 3PT%’ should simultaneously receive a journalistic award and a prison sentence.”
Redditor thechemistrychef thinks that details about the allegedly underage girl should have never been disclosed online, saying:
“Mfers posting pictures, videos, and information of the girl that has no relevance to the situation are gross, too btw.”
User Styios summarized what many have been thinking:
“Idgaf if it’s legal or not, he’s a f**king professional athlete and she’s a girl in highschool. Like you can pull literally any girl you want and you go for ones in highschool.”
Overall, it’s important to remember that none of the allegations have been proven yet.
