Jelly Roll on Sunday night became a first-time CMT Music Awards nominee and proudly won a trophy in all three categories he was nominated in.
Held at Austin’s Moody Center, Jelly Roll won the Breakthrough Male Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year, all for his hit single, “Son of A Sinner.”
During his acceptance speech for Male Video of the Year, Jelly Roll said that it may have looked like it was only 30 yards, but it took him 39 years to be right here. He expressed that he wanted you (the audience) to know that he doesn’t know what you’re going through, and he doesn’t know what you’ve been through, but he knows you can overcome it.

He stated that one could become whatever one desired and assured them of that. He mentioned that he had informed others that he wanted to become a country music singer, and now he is standing at the CMT Awards with the Male Video of the Year.
Jelly Roll emphasized that nothing could obstruct their path if God had given someone something. After addressing his mother, who was watching the awards ceremony, he thanked the country radio for its support.
He appreciated the fact that they had accepted him for who he was and allowed him to pursue his goals in his way, which enabled him to reach this stage tonight. Jelly Roll further expressed his gratitude to the country music community for supporting him throughout his journey.
Everyone was taken aback by Jelly Roll’s memorable performance of “Need A Favor” on the CMT Music Awards stage. With the success of “Son of a Sinner,” it seems Roll will be breaking records on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart by staying at No. 1 for 25 consecutive weeks.
