You must have had a time in your life when you couldn’t figure out what to do in the future. Dreams seemed hopeless and ambitious professions seemed out of reach. Could you ever guess that a dance genre anime would reflect these emotions?
Don’t make the mistake of dismissing Welcome to the Ballroom as just a frivolous dancing anime. It addresses far more significant issues that live in the hearts of every youth.
The protagonist of Welcome of the Ballroom, Fujita, couldn’t have guessed even in his wildest dreams that an unsuspecting dance studio would change his heart forever.
Yet, he stumbled upon inspiration suddenly and, thankfully, never let go.
Welcome to the Ballroom Anime Plot
Tatara Fujita, a third year at middle school, has no plans for his future. He has no dream career or school, which greatly worries not just him but also his associates. As Tatara struggles to find something inspiring, he is whisked away into a dance studio one day.
He finds out that the most studious girl in his class, Shizuku, also attended the classes and hoped to strike up a conversation. However, he soon realized the gap in experience between them after just one round.
Tatara returns to the studio but informs that he can’t join as he is financially unstable. After realizing the boy’s drive, he is allowed to make delayed payments. On the very first day, he stays up all night to practice a particular dance. It doesnt take long for him to fall in love with dancing as he aims for competitions.
On the other hand, the anime also focuses on the dreams of Shizuku and the others from the dance studio.
Trailer
Welcome to the Ballroom has received some magnificent trailers. The first one shows glimpses from episode 1 of the anime.
You can find Tatara, who is distraught about his future, suddenly being bullied into dancing. While he had a rough start, it didn’t take long before he fell in love with dancing. He is mesmerized by Shizuku’s form and grace as well.
The second trailer is for the second cour of the anime when Tatara is already at a competitive level. He has improved by miles from where he first began. A ton of new characters have been introduced as well.

Is Welcome to the Ballroom Manga Finished?
The Welcome to the Ballroom is currently still ongoing. It has received above 65 chapters so far that have been compiled into 12 volumes. The manga frequently goes on hiatus due to the author’s fluctuation in health.
The last news on the manga was when mangaka Tomo Takeuchi went back on hiatus due to working “over capacity.” She was preparing for the manga’s compiled book volumes in July 2022.
Takeuchi sensei has taken frequent breaks in the past, but I don’t think anyone can blame her, as the manga has many flamboyant and gorgeous scenes that are incredibly hard to draw. Additionally, we all know about the health issues manga creators face sooner or later.
All in all, Welcome to the Ballroom is an elegant series, and you should give both the manga and the anime a try.
Tell us in the comments below if you are in love with the anime just as much as us!
