Amanda Lynn Webster, a 44-year-old art teacher from Indiana, was reported missing last week. She was last seen at the Casa Parcha guest house near El Yunque National Park in Naguabo. Later, on October 14, Puerto Rico police shared a Facebook post stating that they found a body during the search for Webster. Although, officially, it is yet to be revealed if the body is of Webster, however, Amanda’s family said it was hers, according to the reports of Fox 59.

Recently, an Indiana art teacher went missing while she was on her vacation in Puerto Rico. The landlord of the Airbnb where she was staying reported the missing tourist. Amanda is a 44-year-old art teacher from Indiana who went missing last week. She was last seen at the Casa Parcha guest house near El Yunque National Park in Naguabo.
On October 13, the Police Commissioner Antonio Lopez Figueroa launched the “Ashanti Alert.” Netizens were asked to assist in searching for the teacher. Soon, on October 14, 2023, Puerto Rico police announced through a Facebook post that they found a dead body while searching for Amanda Lynn Webster.
The post stated,
“A lifeless body, which could be that of a woman, was found this morning in the river in the Río Blanco neighborhood of the Camino Viejo Sector of Naguabo. The body was found face down floating in a rocky area of the river.”
In the post, the authorities didn’t say anything about the identification of the dead body and sent it for forensic examination. The post further reported,
“The Police CIC team, together with the Prosecutor’s Office and staff from the Forensic Institute, are working on the extraction and identification process. At this stage, it is not possible to identify the gender of the body or conclude whether it shows signs of violence.”
As of now, there have been no further updates regarding the reports or the identity of the body. There has been no official announcement confirming Amanda’s death. However, family and friends have a different story to share.
According to the reports of Fox 59, the Webster family believes that the found body is no one else but Amanda. In an interview with WTHR, Webster’s friend, Sharon Rickson, said,
“I’m just happy she was found and that her family, her students and the community, and all her friends can have some form of closure even though it’s pretty earth-shattering. There’s hundreds if not thousands of lives she directly impacted. A lot of people are going to be feeling this loss.”
Netizens are still waiting for official reports from the police department. A few people who encountered Webster mentioned that they saw her swimming in the river (where her body was found) on Tuesday.
