The US and Japan are famous for their cartoons and anime but don’t overlook animations from other countries.
One such example is the French cartoon “Wakfu,” which originated from the Dofus video game in 2008. A sequel, “Wakfu,” followed in 2012, and it’s currently free on Steam.
The eagerly anticipated “Wakfu: Season 4” is generating excitement. What’s the latest on that?
Wakfu is a French anime that’s available to watch on Netflix. It follows Yugo, a 12-year-old boy with mystical abilities, called an Eliatrope, who must defeat Nox, a villain after his Wakfu. Yugo is voiced by Fanny Bloc in French and Jules de Jongh in English. Season 4 of Wakfu is expected to release in 2024, but an official release date hasn’t been set.
The Plot of Wakfu Anime
The “WAKFU” series follows the journey of Yugo, a 12-year-old boy with mystical abilities and a mysterious destiny.
Raised by Alibert, he remains unaware of his powers and true identity as an Eliatrope. When a strange monster awakens his magic, and Alibert reveals a cryptic message, Yugo embarks on a quest to discover his real family and purpose.
Alongside him are Princess Amalia (Jessica Bell), loyal Az, bodyguard Evangelyne, steadfast Percedal (Ross Grant), and Ruel, a friend of Alibert- Ruel (Hugo Chandler), along with Percedal’s demon sword, Rubilax (Keir Stewart).
Their adventures are fraught with danger, but their greatest threat is Nox, who relies on the life essence of Wakfu to survive.
Yugo’s abundant Wakfu, as an Eliatrope, makes him a prime target for this parasitic villain. Together, they unravel the secrets of Yugo’s heritage and confront the relentless pursuit of Nox, shaping their destinies in this captivating tale of magic and courage.
What Is The Cast of Wakfu Anime?

Season 4 Updates of Wakfu Anime
Ankama Animations delighted fans with the exciting May 7, 2020, announcement confirming the development of Wakfu season 4.
To bring this project to life, they launched a Kickstarter campaign on June 8, 2020, which successfully reached its funding goal, ensuring the continuation of the beloved series.
One of the key revelations about Wakfu season 4 is that it won’t be a time skip but will seamlessly pick up where Season 3 left off. Fans can also anticipate a fresh antagonist, dispelling any notions of Nox’s return or Qilby reclaiming the role of the main antagonist.
This upcoming season aims to serve as a crucial link between the “Wakfu” game and an upcoming sequel video game called “Waven.”
Furthermore, while promising a generally “happy” ending, it will be filled with emotional moments, keeping viewers engaged and invested in the characters’ journeys.
Regarding production, “Wakfu” has been a collaborative effort between Ankama Animations and France 3 since its inception with Season 1. Given that Ankama made the announcement for Season 4, it’s reasonable to assume their continued involvement.
While eager fans on the Wakfu subreddit anticipate the release of the 4th season in 2024, an official release date has yet to be disclosed.
All three seasons of Wakfu are available on Netflix, offering viewers a legal avenue to enjoy the series unless they are in its country of origin, France, where the Anime Digital Network is another option.
Once Wakfu season 4 debuts, it is expected to air on the France 3 channel and become available on Netflix for the international audience, ensuring that fans globally can fully immerse themselves in this captivating animated world.
