Today’s special menu is an Italian dish infused with Korean essence, sprinkled with bad guys’ blood, and garnished with gold bars– it’s the ultimate recipe for CORN SALAD!
Only the true fans of Vincenzo will know the sentiment behind this.
Ever since Vincenzo aired on 20th February 2021, fans have been anticipating the next season for more misadventures of the mafia consigliere (otherwise called Corn Salad) and his kin of misfits.
Even though most K-Dramas end their story within one season of generally 16 episodes, fans saw a glimmer of hope when the show creator hinted at a potential story for next season in his recent interviews.
Since then, Vincenzo seems to be in the pipeline to be released after three years of the previous season. Here is a complete rundown of Vincenzo Season 2.
What Is The Storyline Of Vincenzo?
The series starts as the chronicle of an Italian mafia’s consigliere, Vincenzo Cassano, who has to flee from Italy after destroying a rival gang due to life-threatening circumstances.
He seeks refuge in Korea, which is his birthplace, although that is not the reason he lands here. The mysterious mafia hides his true identity and enters Geumga Plaza.
In the other plotline, we meet one of the most iconic women ever created for a series– Hong Cha Young. This enigmatic, quirky, witty, and credible lawyer is at Wusang Law Firm. She is subordinate to the more experienced, seasoned, and unhinged lawyer, Choi Myung Hee, who also represents a corrupt organization called Babel Group. The Zumba dancing senior partner is borderline at loggerheads with Cha Young, considering that the latter is quickly rising in ranks. And the video below proves why…. Cha Young is an icon!
Cha Young also has Jang Jun-woo, a naive sweet-looking intern, as her paralegal– let’s get back to him a little later.
On the other spectrum, we are introduced to a humble establishment, Jipuragi Law Firm, run by Hong Yoo-chan. With a mysterious intention, Vincenzo joins hands with Yoo-Chan, stating “aligned interests.” Jipuragi (which means bits of straw) aims to give justice to underprivileged people. But even more coincidentally, Hong Yoo-Chan is the father of Cha Young (yeah! They have a complicated relationship.)
Next, we have the Geumga Plaza citizens, each running their own small businesses. Every character at this plaza has a unique backstory which takes hilarious turns throughout the series.
But the actual story starts when Cha Young wants to seek revenge against those who killed her father, so she joins Jiupragi, thus collaborating with Vincenzo.
Now let’s unravel all the twists– [spoiler warning]
#1 Twist: Vincenzo Cassano has helped a Chinese tycoon hide 1.5 tons of gold in the basement of Geumga Plaza. He has come here to restore the gold but doesn’t know how to.
#2 Twist: Babel Group has been concealing their criminal practices with their chemical experiments, which took the lives of innocent employees. The Babel CEO is introduced as Jang Han-seo, who seems to be pretty ingenious to be running such a racket.
And in an absolutely shocking twist, it is revealed that Jang Jun Woo (the intern) is actually the CEO. His real name is Jang Han-Seok, and he is the older half-brother of Han-seo (hope you are keeping up with this web of twists).
Twist no. 3: After years of abuse and mistreatment by his evil older brother, Han-Seo decides to join hands with Vincenzo and Cha Young to take down the corrupt firm.
And now, we are at the finale–
What Happened At The End Of Vincenzo Season 1?
The final episode of Vincenzo calls for the ultimate showdown between all players. The king, queen, bishop, knight, rook, and pawns all assemble for the fight of their life–
- The Geumga Plaza citizens showcase their hidden fighting skills and annihilate the bad guys.
- Choi Myung Hee meets with her inevitable end and is burned to ashes for her sins.
- The other Wusang lawyers are killed by Han-Seok for betraying him for putting him in jail. He somehow escapes the prison to kill “traitors.”
- He finally encounters Vincenzo, Cha Young, and his brother. But he is completely deranged at this point as he shoots his own brother and kills Han Seo.
- He also shoots at Vincenzo, but Cha Young comes in the middle, and the bullet pierces her. But in the end, Vincenzo manages to end him.
- In the climax scene, Vincenzo can finally recover his gold with the help of Geumga citizens, and he rewards them each with their share.
- Vincenzo and Cha Young maintain the will-they-won’t-they equation before Vincenzo returns to his country.
- Years later, Cha Young is still slaying as a lawyer, shutting down corrupt politicians. And now Vincenzo has returned as they share the final kiss.
