Although Starfield is a massively enjoyable game, it often pushes the players to work hard to use certain functions, just like they had to learn before using Habs to improve their game’s efficiency.

A similar headache most Starfield gamers face in the game is Transfer Container, which, while it seems like an ordinary storage function, is a bit complicated for the new players, especially due to the confusing instructions of the game.

So, what exactly is a Transfer Container? How to build one if you don’t have it? And, more importantly, how to use a Transfer Container to attain resources more effortlessly?

We’ll walk you through everything in the article, so make sure to read it entirely.

As the name suggests, a transfer container is a compartment of the ship that allows you to transfer materials while you’re onboard the ship. For example, there are several instances where you have to collect multiple items in a particular region.

Given the complexity of the situation, it is hard to leave the ship every time you want to collect a specific item, mainly if they are scattered around at larger distances. In that situation, you choose an outpost and transfer all the contents to your ship using it.

Before you can initiate the process of gathering all the scattered loot in Starfield, it is essential to build a Transfer Container at the chosen outpost. So, here’s the process of building one:

  • First, build an Outpost by collecting four Lubricants, eight Iron, and five Tungsten. You can access this by clicking Transfer Container on the Storage menu, where it shows the number of outposts built and the necessary materials to build one.
  • Upon successfully creating an Outpost, you have to place the Outpost Beacon on the planet where you want to gather the items onto your Transfer Container.
  • Now, you must build an Extractor, which is essential in looting the items. For this, you have to reopen the build mode, choose the Extractor option, and consequently place it where materials you want to collect or mine are abundant.
  • After creating an Extractor, you need to connect it to a Power Source, which is performed by selecting “wire” on the Solar Array.
  • Now that you have built the Extractor and it works thanks to the Power Source, link it to the outpost via an output link, and you’re good to go.

So I’m just heading to a moon and I get hailed by a Ship asking if I want to go to their party…

Even if you have learned to build a Transfer Container, complications are still involved in choosing the materials and transferring them directly to the ship.

Firstly, make sure the ship is within a distance of 250 meters of the outpost, and if it can’t land near it, you may have to build a Landing Pad nearby.

You should find two Cargo Links now, one at the outpost and the other at Extractor. All you need to do is create an output link from every material you want to transfer and join it directly to the Extractor (the line will be shown in red color).

Repeat the process for all the items and minerals you want to transfer to the ship and link the Extractor to the outpost using the Cargo Links.

To transfer the items, go to the menu, open the Ship tab, and then choose Cargo Hold, and you can transfer all the resources seamlessly.
