Squid Game is arguably the most popular Korean TV series on Netflix, and following that, we’ve had several versions of competitions on YouTube, with the most popular being from Mr Beast.

So, knowing the show’s popularity, Netflix also decided to create a reality competition in the style of Squid Game, titled “Squid Game: The Challenge.”

In the recent episode, however, audiences have shown utter disgust at a player donning 065. So, why are fans of Squid Game: The Challenge hating on Player 065?

During the latest episode of Squid Game: The Challenge, released on November 29, 2023, Player 065 and Player 399 were paired to compete in a game of marbles. However, the former insisted on playing a throwing game despite the latter not agreeing to it and made offensive and misogynistic comments, garnering hateful comments from the viewers.

Explained: Why Everyone Hates Player 065 on Squid Game: The Challenge

Squid Game: The Challenge is a new Netflix take on the successful TV show Squid Game, and just like in the series, 456 players are competing for 4.56 million dollars, the biggest prize money in any reality series.

With the competition almost thinning out in the past nine episodes through various rounds of games, one of the episodes paired contestants to compete in a game of marbles.

Like Squid Game, the reality show also gave them the freedom to choose their own game and eliminate their contender, but that presented a problem when Player 065 (Dylan) was paired with Player 399 (Aurora).

Since they only had twenty minutes to decide on a game, Player 065 presented a game of throwing marbles, but the latter disagreed by admitting that she was not good at playing that game.

“I would be at a severe disadvantage if we did something involving throwing because I’m not good at it. I wanted to propose a strategy game.”

Instead of finding a middle ground where both can excel at a game and have an equal chance of winning, Player 065 kept arguing that he didn’t want to be eliminated and would not participate in any game other than throwing.

While Player 399 tried to offer him other solutions, he acted in a manner that many fans believed to be misogynistic, such as “You’re a woman, you should be good at throwing.”

Player 065 even accused her of not being reasonable and raising her voice when she was talking calmly. Ultimately, the situation led to nothing as the former didn’t back down.

The two eventually wasted the given time and decided to go with rock-paper-scissors but ended up with a tie. However, since Squid Game doesn’t qualify two people from the same game, both of them were eliminated.

Viewers believed that Player 065 was at fault, and due to his unreasonable proposal, Player 399 lost a shot at winning 4.56 million dollars. They took to social media and expressed their outrage. Here are some notable reactions from X users:

He was so hostile for no reason, and she was still being respectful towards him.

Now why 065 tell 399 not to raise her voice when she literally didn’t?? #SquidGameTheChallenge #SquidGame pic.twitter.com/oUL6amCxa2

Player 065 was so SELFISH. Player 399 made her marble shot FIRST! He should have agreed to that, instead they BOTH got eliminated. 065 was an Asshole!#Marbles#SquidGame#SquidGameTheChallenge pic.twitter.com/RCimmNHl1y

Squid Game: The Challenge now only has one more episode before it concludes with the first season, and only three players, 016, 287, and 451, remain for the final challenge.
