Dubu’s masterpiece, Solo Leveling, is a series that can pump you full of adrenaline as well as make you cry till your face is swollen. If you have followed the manhwa since the very beginning, I bet you became quite emotional when it ended in 2021.
Well, save your tears and fix that pout because a Solo Leveling anime is currently in the works. Rumors about the anime adaptation have long been circulating, but no one was ready to believe them to prevent heartbreak. Now that the anime has been officially announced, it’s time to pull out your “I was there before it was cool” card.
The underdog-to-boss story of Sung Jinwoo is nothing less than inspiring, and it’s time that everyone in the world knew about it.
Solo Leveling Plot
Solo Leveling takes place in a world that is connected to alternate dimensions via Gates. At the same time, humans have developed supernatural abilities to fight the monsters who pass through the Gates.
Those who learn to kill monsters are called Hunters and are ranked according to their prowess. Eventually, Guilds were built to employ Hunters. The protagonist, Sung Jin-Woo, is an E-Rank hunter who is very incompetent. One day when he accompanies a group to clear a D-Rank Gate, things go south.
As Jin Woo faces death, he is given a chance to become a Player; as he accepts the condition, he finds he can access a HUD that gives him quests. He levels up by completing these quests and keeps growing stronger.
Solo Leveling Trailer
Crunchyroll has revealed three trailers for the upcoming Solo Leveling anime.
The first video gives us a short glimpse at Jin Woo’s handsome appearance, which is quick to pierce through the hearts of fans.
The trailer shows Jin Woo’s weak noob stage before he leveled up when he was struggling with cowardice and lack of strength. The powered-up Jin Woo is nowhere to be seen, but the video does introduce some of the other main characters; the most prominent among them is Cha Hae In.
The third promo explains the concept of hunters, and Jin Woo’s status as the weakest before an unexpected and life-threatening encounter changes the pace. The latest trailer is the longest yet.

Based on my calculations, there’s material for around 48 episodes of Solo Leveling, factoring in the pace of narration and the number of manhwa chapters adapted per episode. Drawing a parallel with Tower of God’s adaptation, where 78 chapters were condensed into 13 episodes, a similar approach could see Solo Leveling covering about five chapters per episode. If studio A-1 Pictures decides to extend the narrative pacing to include new elements, the episode count could reach around 48, which would cover the entire material.
