For the last few years, AI has been loved by all for getting their work done in no time. After AI made its way to Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and other social media platforms, posting videos, content, and pictures has become hassle-free for many.
Even newbies with no love for technology use AI tools to connect to the world and get their videos seen and messages heard.
But the rise of AI has even raised a few eyebrows since it’s feared that it can overtake human intelligence soon. And it did.
The AI is pinned to the top of the Snapchat feed. The user can speak with it only when prompted. But Snapchat user collin ✮, was left baffled after looking that AI posted its own video of a wall or a ceiling without her permission. She immediately shared the bizarre incident on Twitter and was flooded with responses.
What Story Did Snapchat’s My AI Post?
Snapchat has been a favorite tool for many for posting messages and pictures. One of its features is that it allows pictures and messages to be available only for a short time before they become inaccessible to the recipients.
To post the story from the camera on Snapchat, the user has to take a snap or video directly from the camera screen. They then have to send a snap to the Stoy by opting for the brand’s name under ‘My Story’ and then finally hit Send.
But today, for the first time, Snapchat user collin ✮ noticed that the AI posted its own story without any prompt. The video, which played for a fraction of a second, appeared to be a wall or ceiling, although it was difficult to make out.
Soon after, realizing what AI did, collin ✮ immediately questioned AI and other Snapchat users about the advancement of AI since it was the first time that AI had posted its own story on collin ✮ account.
Did AI Really Post a Story on its Own on Snapchat? How Did Online Users React to It?
Many users were left aghast after looking at the video posted by AI. Soon they started questioning the AI about why it was posting stories on its own since it had never done such a thing before. But AI did not answer the users immediately and left them lurking for answers, which was again an unusual move by the AI.
However, some users did receive some answers from AI, although generic. AI stated that it “doesn’t understand,” or it had “experienced a technical issue,” or it just “wanted to share a fun moment with friends???.”
And after nearly an hour of the ordeal, the AI deleted the Snapchat Story, leaving everyone puzzled yet again.
But the whole process made the users fearful. Many users took to Twitter to express their concerns. Many users speculated that AI is evolving as it has somehow figured out to post stories by itself, while some were left scared and demanded Snapchat AI be shut down for safety reasons.
However, when ComicBook.com reached out to Snapchat for clarity, its spokesperson said that AI posted videos on its own due to a temporary outage which has since been fixed.
This is not the first time when Snapchat has posted on its own. A few months back, a Reddit user mentioned that the app posted memories to a story on its own. The user said that about 25 snaps got posted in the main and private stories while the user was asleep.
AI posting a story on its own can be intimidating as it not only invades privacy but can lead to a lot of damage.
