What’s going on with one of Houston’s finest?
Scarface, the legendary rapper from Geto Boys, is back in the hospital, and fans are on edge.
Brad Jordan, better known as Scarface, dropped a bombshell on Instagram this Saturday. He posted a pic of himself in a hospital bed, looking like he’d been through the wringer. Tubes, wires, the whole nine yards. His caption?
Just a simple “Ouch… Grateful” with some prayer hand emojis.
Scarface is in the ICU but remains ‘grateful’ despite the health scare. While Scarface is keeping mum on the details, it looks like he might be dealing with some heart issues. Word on the street is he’s in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Remember when COVID tried to take him out back in 2020? That virus hit him like a freight train – pneumonia in both lungs, kidney failure, the works. Scarface didn’t just battle COVID; he went to war with it. He was on dialysis for months after that showdown.
But here’s where the story gets wild. In 2021, Scarface needed a new kidney. And who steps up?
His son, Chris Jordan.
Talk about father-son bonding!
Chris didn’t miss a beat when asked why he’d donate. “Why not? It’s my dad,” he told KHOU 11. “He gave me life, you know, so it was only right that I return the favor by extending his.”
Scarface, being the real one he is, didn’t hold back his gratitude. He got emotional talking about Chris on Instagram Live: “I’m so proud of you. I love you too much. You saved my muthaf–kin’ life. You low down muthaf—a. You’re selfish. Won’t let a n—a die.”
Now, three years after that transplant, Scarface is back in the hospital. And the hip-hop world is rallying around him. His Instagram post blew up with comments from the who’s who of rap.
DJ Quik dropped some real talk: “Brad, we got more work to do bro bro. Ain’t no time to be out of time.” E-40 chimed in with, “Praying for a speedy recovery family. I love you.” Even Chance The Rapper, Ja Rule, and Warren G sent their well-wishes.
For those who might not know, Scarface isn’t just any rapper. This man helped put southern hip-hop on the map with Geto Boys in the late ’80s. He went on to slay the solo game, dropping tracks with heavyweights like Nas and Jay-Z. And let’s not forget his stint as head of Def Jam South from 2000 to 2005, where he helped Ludacris blow up.
Scarface has always kept it real, both in his music and about his health struggles. Remember when he talked about his COVID battle? He didn’t sugarcoat it. He told folks how serious this virus was and probably saved some lives by speaking out.
We’re all waiting on pins and needles for an update. But if history’s taught us anything, it’s that this Houston legend doesn’t go down easy.
Averagebeing’s Take: Scarface is more than just a rapper – he’s a fighter, a survivor, and clearly, one hell of a dad. His openness about his health battles is a reminder that even our heroes are human. Here’s hoping he bounces back stronger than ever.
