“When the world shoves you around, you just gotta stand up and shove back. It’s not like somebody’s gonna save you if you start babbling excuses.”

For over two decades, One Piece has given us dozens of unforgettable soundtracks, tear-jerking moments, action-packed fights, and characters that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

One Piece has created a deeper connection with its viewers, giving them valuable life lessons.

One of the hard-hitting moments, among many, is the one between Nico Robin and Jaguar D. Saul, “Nobody was born in this world to be alone,” no matter how difficult things are, there are times when you can take on the world with just a smile.

Laugh when you are happy; laugh when you are sad; laugh in the face of adversity, and nothing can stop you. And among the world’s chaos, this tale teaches us the beauty of life even in times of hardship. This is the tale of Jhon, who took on the world head-on.

Name: Jhon Lloyd Matheo R. Jimenez
Lives In: Philippines

I've been watching One Piece for a long time, and throughout the anime, I learned so much from their interactions. One specific quote I really like so much was from Jinbei. He once said to Luffy, "Stop counting only those things you have lost! what is gone, is gone! so ask yourself this. What is there… that still remains to you?."

I too lost a lot, and that was myself. I lost track of where I was going, I lost passion for the things I wanted to do, and I lost happiness, but then I encountered this episode and this line. I was glad I saw that line because it made me rethink, "What things do still remain in me."

I thought of the things I still have, and those are the people who stand by my side. When I was at my lowest, they were the reason why I was still fighting. Time passed, and I noticed myself being more active in the things I did before. I tend to be more enthusiastic and cheerful simultaneously. I can handle what goes first.

You may lose track of life, but never forget those people who helped you in tough times and supported you. Days can be rough, but trust me, when you start to see that light, don't stop. Just keep going, don't give up on yourself and on life, Don't attempt to end it for those reasons. Though it may take some time, I'm sure every one of us has a purpose in this world. You just need to find it.

Key Takeaways

#1 The Tragedy of Yesterday, The Beauty of Tomorrow

“Loss” in any form can you catatonic, be it the death of a close one, be it in the sense of direction, or be it in life; picking yourself up after such scenarios is never easy, and it probably never will be either. And Luffy is someone who has seen it all; every tragedy he faces, every loss he faces, leaves him with a sense of emptiness, leaving him feeling dreadful and powerless.

The death of Ace was probably the most devasting loss Luffy had ever gone through, and that incident pushed him into utter dismay. And if it were not for Jinbei, Luffy would have lost himself to agony and despair.

Fans, along with Jhon, were moved by Luffy’s interaction with Jinbe, witnessing him learn to push on despite suffering one of his worst losses.

#2 More Than Blood

Anime has, time and again, put a significant amount of stress on the importance of friendships and companions; through thick and thin, the bonds remain unbreakable.

No matter who his opponent was or how powerful they were, Luffy always did whatever it took to protect them. He fought for Zoro; he fought Nami, Sanji, Robin, and Usopp; he always kept pushing himself to protect those close to him.

Monkey D. Luffy will not let that ideology die down, nor should you. As Jhon said, he had people by his side; you too, always have someone by your side.

#3 All You Have To Do, Is Ask

One Piece has shown us that it is always okay to ask for help. The moments of despair faced by Nami and Robin led them to ask for help from Luffy, and these two scenes are probably one of the few iconic scenes etched into every viewer.

Though reluctant at first, both eventually seek help, showing us that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing that. Ask for help when you are in a dire situation, and lend a shoulder for someone when they are in one themselves.
