The action RPG that changed the face of gaming in Japan is getting an anime! At the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 broadcasted from Yokohama today, this announcement has led to a frenzy that has gripped social media and excited gamers in every nook and corner of the world.
As we all know, games’ live-action adaptations have often proven to be bitter disappointments. Yoko Taro, the director of the 2017 hit RPG, was perplexed when the producer at Aniplex seemed fired up about the project. In fact, Taro-san says that the lady freaked him out with her commitment (that’s Japanese humor, sweet yet funny).
You can watch the entire interview featuring the game and anime director alongside the two principal VAs. Don’t forget the trailer and the PVs too.

Yui Ishikawa and Natsuki Hanae also discuss the similarities between the premise of the game and the anime. In the beginning, the game creators and the anime writers encountered some problems as they were worried about how things would change for the show. But it seems that things worked out well in the end.
Natsuki-san referred to the incident of how Mr. Saito, Mr. Yoko, and he went out drinking once four years ago and revealed the desire to work on an anime.
Yoko Taro also spoke about how he understood the subtle variations between the game world he is familiar with and the kingdom of anime. Masuyama, a humble thanks for the opportunity to work on such a spectacular premise focused on a dystopian society filled with androids constructed by humans working to eliminate the mechanically sound invaders. The androids are linked with the YoRHa organization. The show’s protagonists are also based on prominent figures in the game.
