Technology is the dark side of a human’s reflection. And hence, we encounter a Black Mirror.
Black Mirror is officially returning after four years on June 2023. The brain-wrenching anthology series hits us with higher production value, stars-packed episodes, and new theories on how technology affects us. However, one thing remains the same— extreme uneasiness and terror.
Will There Be Season 6 of Black Mirror?
Netflix announced on 26th April that Black Mirror Season 6 is officially slated for Netflix streaming in June. Giving a hit of what to expect, Charlie Brooker, the writer/director/executive producer, said–
“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined and can keep reinventing itself.”
Brooker confirmed that they are subverting their own beliefs on how a “Black Mirror Episode” should be.
“Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect.”
“Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is. The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before.”
Black Mirror Season 6 Official Poster
The poster gives off an ominous vibe with a simple aesthetic. An ordinary eye might see only a regular cassette, but a Black mirror fan knows well that there are several hints in one picture.
There are five lines on the left, each scratched off– indicating the five different stories.
But you can still make out some text.
- A faint “a” can be seen at the end of the first line, indicating it will be the first episode– Beyond the Sea.
- In the second line, you can see something similar to Henry being scratched, suggesting it’s the next episode– Loch Henry.
- You can still clearly read the third one– Joan Is Awful.
- The fourth one is so apparent under the red sketch pen– it looks like Mazey Day.
- And last but not least, written in red seems to be the most sinister episode of all– Demon 79.
Black Mirror Season 6 Official Trailer
The trailer packs the fragments from each episode. But we can still segregate the episodes based on the color palette.
- There will likely be an entire story in space.
- Another frame hints at a crime in an abandoned diner.
- Joan is Awful episode is pretty apparent with the hysterical lady, played by Annie Murphy.
- The trailer shows a lot of glimpses of a 70s-style setup, with more aggressive scenes and an eccentric black man dressed in white fur …interesting!

Why Did Black Mirror Get Cancelled?
Black Mirror was first aired on Channel 4. With an average of 3-4 episodes in each season, Charlie Brooker maintained a very secretive production process to maintain the suspense of each story in the anthology.
However, the producers of Channel 4 demanded a small synopsis before airing the episode, stating that they were getting fewer views on them. Charlie found these demands “outrageous” because he wanted to surprise the audience to go into the episode without knowing anything.
In 2016, Channel 4 officially canceled the show. But then Netflix picked it up, which led to the show gaining popularity like wildfire. And to top it off, their production budget increased considerably.
Is It Okay Not to Watch Black Mirror in Order?
Black Mirror is an anthology series. Each episode has a different story. You can watch any episode in any order. However, in the usual Black Mirror style, some episodes have easter eggs that point to the previously aired episodes. You may have to look closely for such callbacks; it’sit’s usually pretty interesting how these hints are incorporated.
Does Black Mirror Have Multiple Endings? Is There a Happy Ending to the Black Mirror Movie?
The Black Mirror: Bandersnatch movie, released in 2018, experimented with the possibility of multiple endings. Stefan’sStefan’s fate only had three choices: dead, in prison, or trapped in the game himself.
This interactive film allows viewers to make choices, which would consequently lead to a corresponding ending. Although not many people were a fan of this format, it did make up for some exciting viewing experiences.
However, you can never expect a happy ending in Black Mirror. You are always left with discomfort, lingering aftertaste, and a sense of impending doom on humankind.
