Megan Ashley Brooks recently divorced John Camden Brooks. She revealed in the June 13, 2023 episode of ‘The Know For Sure’ podcast that she felt unvalued in her home and relationship. Megan advised couples not to get too close to each other as that kills the spark. Ultimately, she said she is ready to move on but isn’t prepared for marriage.
Who Is Megan Ashley Brooks?
For the uninitiated, Megan Ashley Brooks has been an internet personality since she began posting in 2019. She is known for her Instagram (@meganabrooks) pics and the podcast ‘The Know For Sure.’
She co-hosts it with B. Simone, a comedian and actress. Brooks is Simone’s assistant and business partner. Not to mention, also her best friend. However, Megan rose to popularity after appearing on an October 2022 episode of the New Rory & Mal show on YouTube.
She enjoys 240k followers on her social media platform; as such, people are interested in knowing what’s going on in her life. She has three sons, Caleb, Eli, and Jonah.
Initially, it seemed like her married life with John Camden Brooks was going fine. But the fairytale image was shattered when she filed for divorce from him.
What Happened in Megan Ashley Brooks’ Divorce?
In the June 13, 2023 episode of her ‘The Know For Sure’ podcast, titled, ‘Locked In,’ Megan Ashley Brooks revealed much about her divorce from John Camden Brooks without saying much about it.
She didn’t reveal every nitty gritty of what led to it—but said so much about her mental state before, after, and during it.
Megan revealed in the podcast that she finally understood why people stayed in a relationship even though it wasn’t fulfilling anymore, nor did it make them happy.
She heartbreakingly said that she didn’t feel cared for in her life even though she was the boss of her home. She revealed:
“I am the queen of my home. I have a family, and we love each other; it’s an amazing feeling, but they don’t care about the stuff I like or the stuff I like to do… I know for me, I want to go to bed together; I want to eat together.”
Her voice cracked, and she became teary-eyed while admitting this. But now that the divorce is over, she wants to move on. However, she is nowhere ready to be married again. She revealed:
“I am nowhere near ready to be a wife again. But when the time comes, I’ll be so much better at it. Now I have so much to add to my relationship.”
Interestingly, she revealed that she couldn’t adhere to the social expectation of wallowing in a failed marriage immediately after a divorce. She said:
“When you have just divorced and moved on quickly, people are like, ‘You just got divorced.’ But in my mind, we have been divorced for a long time. It is just legally done now.”
So what advice would she give to others? She said something that raised eyebrows. As per Megan, one has to maintain some distance and not become too overly familiar with each other in a relationship. Megan confessed:
“When you know it all too well, it kills the spark.”
She also explained that one gets less hurt if both become busy in life and then proceed to hurt each other equally. This is because not much accusation gets thrown around when you are making mistakes, too.
This is undoubtedly controversial; many online have disagreed with her views. After all, for some, growing closer means sharing everything. However, different people have different life experiences.
