Jujutsu Kaisen has been among the highest-rated anime shows of all time, thanks to its fantastic premise, animation, and memorable characters like Sukuna, Toji, and Gojo.
Since the anime is in its second season, the story has taken a tremendous turn, bringing fans to the time when Yuji ate Sukuna’s first finger. So, how many fingers did Yuji eat so far in the anime?
Thus far, Yuji ate 15 of Sukuna’s fingers throughout his encounters in the first and second seasons. He initially ate the first finger to save Megumi from a cursed spirit in the anime’s first episode after learning it would grant him power if he swallowed it.
So, why and when did Yuji eat all these fingers in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime? Here’s a detailed explanation.
How Did Sukuna Lost His Fingers?
While it is essential to learn how many fingers Yuji has eaten, the history of how Sukuna lost all his fingers is as significant.
Sukuna had 20 fingers when he was completely existent because of his four hands. In the past, Sukuna was drunk with power and wanted to rule the world using the cursed spirits.
However, several sorcerers across the world have teamed up and defeated him, but due to their fear of him being revived, they chose an extreme method of sealing all of his fingers in different locations.
Although they succeeded, over the centuries, most fingers were eventually discovered by cursed spirits and humans who craved power until they found a suitable host, Yuji Itadori.
How Many Fingers Did Yuji Eat and Why?
So far in the anime, Yuji has eaten 15 fingers of Sukuna since the first episode. The first time he swallowed the finger was while saving Megumi from a cursed spirit.

The second finger was provided by Gojo following his discovery that Yuji can resist Sukuna from taking control of his body as well as to test his abilities.
As for the third one, Sukuna takes it from the Cursed Womb and consumes it when Yuji is not in control. The fourth one, though, was a hilarious moment in the anime.
After Megumi finds the fourth finger after his fight with the Finger Bearer, he reluctantly gives it to Yuji for safekeeping. However, Sukuna creates a mouth on his hand and consumes it before anyone can react.
These are all the fingers Yuji has eaten in the first season, but no one expected that he would eat more than ten fingers in the second one.
In the ongoing Shibuya Incident arc, Yuji passes out after his fight with Choso, during which the Hasaba twins feed him one more finger in hopes of striking a deal with him.
After a while, Jogo arrives on the scene and feeds all the ten fingers in his possession that he painstakingly collected over the years to Yuji, only to be slaughtered mercilessly alongside the Hasaba twins by Sukuna.
So, it is confirmed that Yuji has so far consumed 15 out of 20 fingers of Sukuna, but the question of why he did so remains. Of course, the reason was explained in the anime’s first episode.
Although Yuji consumed the first finger on a whim so as to save Megumi from the death’s door, he was eventually informed of Sukuna’s existence by Gojo.
Gojo explains that Sukuna can only be killed by exorcising him like a cursed spirit, but in order to do that, he must be in his complete form. Thus, Gojo struck a deal with Yuji, where the latter agreed to consume each finger gradually.
