The Hollywood curse is real; there’s no denying that. Celebrities often fall out with their spouse, leading to messy divorces and years of court visits. Plus, the media attention adds fuel to the fire, while the social media trials are like the wind spreading this wildfire.
In the digital age, every news travels at the speed of light, not giving enough time even to verify its credibility.
In one such instant flash news incident, Steve Harvey has been trending for the past couple of days. People admired Harvey’s commitment to his marriage and the healthy dynamics between him and his wife.
But everyone woke up to shocking reports that suggested that Harvey’s wife, Marjorie Bridges, had cheated on him with his bodyguard cum personal chef William’ Big Boom’ Freeman. Rumor has it that she filed for divorce after being caught in the act and demanded $200 million in alimony.
This became quite a scandal among netizens, where Marjorie was attacked mercilessly while Steve was criticized for letting this happen and being a “simp.”
“Guilty before proven” has become one of the amendments of the social media constitution. Absolutely no one bothered to check the validity of these reports before boarding the hate train.
Steve and Marjorie have since cleared the rumors, denying any speck of divorce. Both parties maintain that they are standing together in the face of this adversity. They stated their sixteen years of marriage is too strong to be shaken by baseless rumors.
Is Steve Harvey Married?
Steve Harvey has been married twice before. First, he married Marcia Harvey, with whom he has two twin daughters, Brandi and Karli, and one son, Broderick Harvey Jr.
He was later married to Mary Shackelford, with whom Harvey had another son, Wynton. The couple divorced in November 2005, but definitely not on amicable terms. Shackelford filed a lawsuit against Harvey, alleging that she did not receive financial aid and that Steve forced their son Wynton to drop out of college for another. In 2011Collin County, Texas-based 199th District Court Judge Robert Dry found these allegations to hold no ground.
Shortly after his divorce in 2005, Harvey reunited with Marjorie Bridges, whom he had previously dated early in his career. The timing was off for the couple then since Harvey deemed himself financially unstable to take care of Marjorie. But a decade later, the couple crossed each other’s path again.
Two years later, in June 2007, the couple pledged their unwavering commitment by tying the knot in an intimate ceremony. Steve adopted Marjorie’s three children, Morgan, Jason, and Lori, from the previous marriage.
The couple, with their seven children, have been together for the past 16 years.
Is Steve Harvey Divorcing His Wife Marjorie?
The reports suggested that Marjorie filed for divorce and demanded $200 million. Harvey never signed a prenup before marriage, which led people to believe this rumor.
But earlier today, Marjorie set the record straight with utmost elegance–
She first linked an article titled “How to Handle Being Lied About.” Then she captioned her post by stating–
“My husband and I don’t usually stop to address all the foolishness and lies that have been spread about us. However to whom much is given much is required. I understand that with my platform comes some sort of responsibility to those that may not be as strong as we are. Read and share this with your loved ones that may not know how to properly cope. God Bless all of you!”
Meanwhile, after the rumors surfaced, Steve made his first public appearance at the Invest Fest Market Place 2023 event. He openly addressed in front of a massive crowd, stating–
“Just let me say, I’m fine. Marjorie’s fine…I don’t know what y’all doing, but find something else to do because we fine. Lord have mercy. I ain’t got no time for rumours and gossip. God’s been good to me, I’m still shining.”
So, to answer the question– Steve Harvey is not divorcing Marjorie, as the couple stand the test of time of their precious marriage. Also, the rumors that Marjorie cheated on Harvey with his bodyguard, Freeman, are false.
What is your take on these rumors? Do you think that the couple is covering up the situation for PR? Or are these rumors absolutely baseless?
