It’s no secret that “The View” has been a daytime TV staple since its inception in 1997. With its fiery discussions and ever-evolving panel, the show has remained a hotbed for controversy and entertainment.

The women’s perspective, regardless of what end of the spectrum they lay on, was the first-ever showcase of all-women hosts in daytime television. The panel of esteemed hosts and guests reflected on the current issues and channeled a medium for unheard voices.

Also, the producers gave ultimate freedom of expression to the hosts, where the ladies hashed out the stories, going with in-depth analysis and discourse.

The original lineup, including the likes of Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Joy Behar, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Barbara Walters, set the stage for what would become a rollercoaster of host changes and dramatic exits. But amidst all this, there’s been one constant – Joy Behar, a beacon of wit and candor.

Recently, however, her absence from the show has stirred up a whirlwind of speculation. Did she decide to leave, or was she shown the door?

Let’s set the scene. “The View” isn’t new to rolling things around. Remember when Matenopoulos left in 1998? And then there were others like Lisa Ling, Rosie O’Donnell, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Fast forward to 2007, and we see Behar, alongside Walters, as the sole survivor of the original crew. But here’s where it gets juicy – in 2013, Behar exits the show, only to return later with a revelation that she was actually fired. Talk about a plot twist!

And now, a decade later, Behar’s unexpected absence raises speculations.

Was Joy Behar Fired from “The View”?

No, Joy Behar was not recently fired from “The View.” She’s just on a temporary break after being diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 12, 2023, as announced by co-host Whoopi Goldberg. This is her first bout with the virus, and she is expected to return after a week.

The Real Story Behind the Rumors: Why Was Joy Behar Fired?

So, what’s the real deal behind Behar’s absence? Let’s dive into the details. In 2013, Behar did indeed leave “The View,” and years later, she dropped a bombshell – she was fired. “Somebody wanted me gone,” Behar revealed to People magazine.

“It was not 100 percent my choice.” She speculated that her liberal political views might have been a factor in her departure.

The 81-year-old comedian/host is a force to be reckoned with. She was a woman of no filters and liked to give it straight. She proudly put forth her liberal views and called out any misogynistic or sexist comments. Behar, through her decades of experience and watching the world evolve/devolve before her eyes, has given her an edge in her insightful views.

Joy Behar is the funny bone and smart head of the View. Always ready with a quick liner to dissolve any tense 😬 moment even at her own humorous expense. Congratulations 🎊🍾🎉 @JoyVBehar for a great 👍🏾 run and longevity.💜

Is Joy Behar Still on The View?

Fast forward to 2023, and we find Behar absent again for a different reason. This time, she’s out due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, as announced by Whoopi Goldberg on the show.

Joy Behar won't be on The View this week because she "finally got COVID."

But this isn’t just about Behar. The show itself has seen its fair share of Covid-related disruptions. Goldberg had her battles with the virus, and co-hosts Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro had a dramatic live-show exit in 2021 due to false positive Covid tests. The pandemic has clearly left its mark on “The View.”

Yvette Nicole Brown will be filling In for Joy Behar on The View, who also announced her exciting new phase of getting engaged.

Now, you might be wondering, “Is there more to Behar’s absence?” The answer is simple yet layered. Behar’s current break is health-related, a stark contrast to her 2013 exit. It’s a reminder of the unpredictable nature of live television and the challenges faced by shows like “The View” in these times.

So, what do you think? Is the show managing well without Behar’s presence?

More importantly, how will her return impact the dynamics of “The View”? Share your thoughts and keep the conversation going!

From a little girl who wrote school plays and made her friends act in them to an adolescent who got into dark humor, Yashica has built her own universe of peculiar characters inspired by great cinema. She has imbibed the philosophies of David Fincher's characters but lives like the eccentricity of Phoebe Waller Bridge's women. Her metahumans are those who can use the power of words to create an elixir of emotions and bring them to life on screen. Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Ilana-Abbi, Raj-DK, Anurag Kashyap, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and others are her Marvel's Avengers. With over two years of experience as a content writer, her writing pieces are well-researched, with a sprinkle of her opinions/inferences that keep the audiences engaged. She is still exploring more on the anime scene but is highly intrigued by it. The cinephile in her makes her appreciate the intricacies of filmmaking. You will get a lot more insight into it in her articles and thoroughly enjoy her explanations. Well, someday, you might see Yashica as one of the writers for a movie-- it's her ultimate dream!
