Born on October 9, 1958, in the city of Houston, Texas, Mike Singletary began his football journey as a college linebacker for the Baylor Bears.

His exceptional talent caught the attention of the Chicago Bears, who selected Mike in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft. Mike went on to enjoy an illustrious 11-year NFL career, becoming the heart of the defense for the Chicago Bears.

Following his retirement from playing, Mike embarked on a successful coaching career that began in 2003.

October 26, 2008: “Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach them. Can’t do it. I want winners. I want people that want to win.”

He took on various coaching roles, including serving as the head coach for organizations such as Trinity Christian Academy from 2018 to 2019, the Los Angeles Rams in 2016, the Memphis Express in 2019, and the San Francisco 49ers from 2009 to 2010.

In addition to his accomplishments in football, Mike Singletary is a proud father of seven children with his wife Kim: Matt, John, Jackie, Becky, Jill, Kristen, and Brooke.

While his son Matt chose a different path and pursued a career in entertainment as a writer and actor, the Singletary football legacy continues with Mike’s nephew, Vantz Singletary.

Vantz currently serves as the defensive end coach at Tennessee State University.

Devin Singletary, the talented running back in the NFL, owes much of his skill and success to his parents, Devonn Singletary Sr. and Sabrina Clark, who have played pivotal roles in his life.

While Devin Singletary’s parents have chosen to maintain a private life, some details about them have emerged.

In the past, his father was a football player at Norfolk State University, where his teammates affectionately referred to him as “Motor.”

Devin Singletary has more than just a playoff appearance on the line. He enters the game against the Colts with 1,026 scrimmage yards. If he gets to 1,100 total yards he'll earn a $250K bonus! He's rushed for 74+ yards 4 times (all since Week 10). pic.twitter.com/R1KIMYuA1P

This nickname left a lasting impression on Devin, who used to go by “Motor Jr.” during his younger years.

He even humorously mentioned that while he usually calls his father “Dad,” he occasionally playfully addresses him as “Big Motor.” Devin also revealed that his son would carry on the tradition and be known as “Motor the Third.”

Devin Singletary’s mother, Sabrina, garnered attention when she prepared for her son’s return to South Florida three years ago.

This happened when Devin and the Buffalo Bills played against the Miami Dolphins at the Hard Rock Stadium.

While Devin’s parents are no longer together, they continue to provide unwavering support for their son.

Sabrina has since found happiness with her husband, Keith Clark, and it appears that Devin and his stepfather share a positive relationship. Sabrina and Keith frequently travel to Buffalo to watch Devin’s games, showing their dedication to his football career.

Going through old stuff as I clean out the house we just sold, I came across some old starting lineup toys in a box. Mike Singletary was in there, but couldn’t find his helmet. Ended up finding it smashed at the bottom of the box… 😆

Mike Singletary’s journey from a humble beginning in Houston, Texas, to becoming an iconic figure in the NFL is a testament to his perseverance and the guiding influences in his life.

Born the youngest of ten children, Mike grew up in a close-knit family led by his father, Charles, a devout street preacher.

The family eventually settled in Houston, where they shared a modest wood-frame home next to the Church of God, a place that Charles built himself. During the week, Charles worked as a contractor to support his large family.

Tragedy struck when Mike’s older brother, Dale Singletary, passed away unexpectedly.

This loss strained Mike’s relationship with his father, Charles, but his brother, Grady, stepped in as a father figure. Grady’s guidance was instrumental in keeping Mike away from vices like drinking and smoking.

Mike’s passion for football ignited as he watched the Dallas Cowboys play each Sunday, idolizing players like Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly, and Lee Roy Jordan.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck again when Grady, the person Mike looked up to, was killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

Despite these challenges, Mike’s talent on the football field shone brightly during his time at Evan E. Worthing High School in Houston.

His success in high school football and improved grades earned him a scholarship to Baylor University, where he encountered another influential figure, Baylor coach Grant Teaff.
