The newest Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, follows what’s next for Daryl as his journey through France continues. It focuses on his adventures in France as he takes a young boy named Laurent across the country.
Being the hottest show in the post-apocalyptic horror TV realm, the fresh chapter of the iconic franchise has left audiences confused as they wonder how Daryl ends up in France.
Starring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, the show is against a post-apocalyptic backdrop created by Angela Kang, spotlighting the fan-favorite character. In a scene from the show’s first episode, Darel reveals that he ran into some bad people, and they put him on a boat which did not go well as they got lost and ended up in Southern France. Prior to this, he was leaving the Commonwealth in The Walking Dead finale to find Rick Grimes.
How Did Daryl Dixon End Up In France?
Following the events of The Walking Dead finale, the spinoff series doesn’t explain how or why Daryl boarded a ship that belongs to Genet, the head of a French militia. It is revealed that he was a prisoner on a cargo ship containing a variety of zombie test subjects bound for France.
The titular character says that he “ran into some bad people” in the episode. “They put me on a boat. That didn’t go well. And I washed ashore here,” added Daryl. Later as it is revealed that the boat had subjects, a mutiny broke out, apparently led by Daryl, during which he went overboard and was presumed dead.
However, he was alive and somehow lashed himself to a lifeboat and made it to land. Following the mutiny on board, that ultimately facilitated Daryl’s escape. In the episode, a doctor says,
“Our research is largely destroyed. Some of the test subjects may still be of use. Whoever did this made a real mess of things for us.”
Daryl Dixon’s new goal is to wound up in France and find his way home, but it seems like that will be his struggle all along. In the premiere, Daryl agrees to escort a 12-year-old girl, some believe to be a prophet, to the north of France so that he can find his way back to America as he is seen on a mission that may take him an entire season, or even longer, to complete.
Where To Watch The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?
The story of the crossbow hero has been one of the most asked series by the fans of The Walking Dead universe. Featuring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, the spinoff will be surrounded by new faces, including villains and zombie variants. And all that will be available for the audiences on AMC and AMC+ as every new episode will air on Sunday starting from September 10th, 2023.
Viewers who prefer cable can catch new episodes when they air on AMC every Sunday at 9:00 PM EST, but the streamers will have first access to these episodes since they will be released on AMC+ hours earlier.
