Frieren Anime Plot
The plot of the Frieren anime begins with the hero party’s return to the capital after defeating the demon king. Accompanying the hero Himmel, priest Heiter, and warrior Eisen is an immortal elf mage, Frieren.
While it was ten long years of journey for the others, for Frieren, the time passed in just a heartbeat. In times of peace, she watched all her comrades slowly pass away. Before his death, Heiter managed to entrust the elf with the care of a talented adopted girl, Fern.
Although the heroes’ adventure has ended, plenty of adventures remain in this world for the immortal elf. The pair embarks on a journey to revisit nostalgic places while Frieren slowly learns to confront the missed opportunities of forming deeper bonds.

So far, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime has received two trailers. Both unveil memories of Frieren and the gorgeously animated adventures she will have.
The first PV shows the four victorious heroes returning after the battle with the demon king. While they decide what to do after retirement, Frieren goes on a 50-year journey alone. Yet, she never forgets her companions, the fragile humans who bonded with her.
The second trailer shows the hero companions of Frieren pass away while leaving their memories with her. Her new companion, Fern, is also shown in the video, along with glimpses of all the adventures she had in her long life.

Frieren Anime Release Date and Where to Watch
The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime is all set to premiere with a two-hour special episode on September 29, 2023. Crunchyroll has already licensed the anime to stream outside Asia, while Muse Communication will stream it in Southeast Asian countries.
Yoasobi will perform the opening theme song, “Yuusha,” while Milet recorded the ending theme, “Anytime Anywhere.” Both the songs were unveiled via the trailers.
Is Frieren Manga Finished?
At the time of writing this article, the Frieren manga is an ongoing manga with 110+ chapters, and a new arc has just begun for the series. Creators AbeTsukasa and Yamada Kanehito have not announced anything regarding the manga’s ending.
Thus, there’s plenty of material for the anime to adapt even after completing season 1. The chances of a second season look pretty high at this point.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End stands out among all other Fall 2023 anime due to its unique take on adventures. It’s not about the action scenes or huge battles but rather about the elf who has yet to learn about humans and her own feelings.
