Fate/Strange Fake went from an April Fool’s joke to receiving an entire anime adaptation itself, and I don’t think a bigger glow-up is possible. Just in case you are wondering if this anime also belongs to Type-Moon’s neverending Fate franchise, I am here to confirm that it is indeed another extension of the series.
If you were to trace the peculiar origin of Fate/strange Fake, it would lead you to a prologue for an RPG game that was placed on Ryogo Naritaโs homepage on April 1, 2008. A year after the incident, it received a light novel.
A 55 minutes anime special, Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- was released yesterday, July 2, 2023, but the surprises didn’t end just yet. An anime adaptation was announced on the same day, and now all Fate franchise fans are on their way to get an alternate universe project on top of the already confusing timeline.
Fate/strange Fake Anime Plot
Fate/strange Fake takes place around 2009 around a Grail War that was faultily copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. As the Third Grail War ended, an American organization took data and planned its own ritual.
However, 70 years later, when the organization tries to use Snowfield as the Sacred Land, it begins acting strange.
Rohngail and Faldeus, a master student combo, are sent by the Mage Association to investigate the strange city and the status of the war. Faldeus turns out to be a US spy and gets his master sniped upon arrival.
Fate/strange Fake Trailer and Visual
A new trailer has been revealed for the upcoming Fate/Strange Fake anime. The trailer shows all the main characters from the US organization that created a fake Grail War, as well as the Mage Association leaders.
A hilarious new visual was also revealed at the Anime Expo, where the main characters of the series can be seen waiting at the roadside to hitch a ride.
Fate/strange Fake Release Date
The Fate/Strange Fake anime adaptation was announced at the Anime Expo 2023. However, a release window has not been confirmed yet. The anime is adapted from the light novel series of the same name.
The Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- anime special is currently streaming on Crunchyroll after its debut on July 2, 2023.
Fate/strange Fake Light Novel
Fate/Strange Fake is an ongoing light novel that began in 2015. It further expands on the April Fools’ joke that was made on Narita in 2008. It has received eight volumes so far.
The Fate/Strange Fake series does have the strangest origin story, but over the years, fans have shown an increasing demand for the volumes, which eventually led to animation production.
