Evil Lives Here- the phrase will make anyone wonder- what is this evil? Is it a ghost or spirit similar to the one seen in the recent film Evil Dead Rise?
Not really, even though the incident that happened was monstrous as well. The phrase is actually the name of an ID show that will air a new episode called- We’re Glad Mom is Dead.
The episode will deal with an incident over two decades ago where a mother named Sungnam Kwon Lisowski did something unimaginable because she suspected her husband was cheating on her. The official synopsis of the episode reads:
“Victoria and Christine Lisowski live in fear of their mother, Sungnam Kwon-Lisowski; they never imagine that this Christmas, they’ll feel lucky to survive the holiday and their mother’s crazed vengeance.”
So what did Sungnam Kwon Lisowski do? The mother of two shot her 46-year-old husband, John Lisowski, on Christman morning in 2002 because he was having an affair and wanted a divorce. She also shot her two daughters- Christine (12) and Victoria (14), because she didn’t want them to be raised by the other woman. The woman pleaded guilty in 2006 and was sentenced to 45 years without parole.
Who Is Sungnam Kwon Lisowski & What Did She Do?
In 2002, on Christmas morning around 8:00 AM, Sungnam Kwon Lisowski went on a shooting rampage because her husband of 19 years was cheating on her. The married mom of two young daughters first fatally shot John Lisowski, her husband, three times in the back and once in the head while he was using his computer on the first floor.
He died right there in his Aurora’s Stonebridge subdivision home. The two kids heard the gunshots, which woke them up from their sleep. Sungnam then went to their room and stood at the doorway, where she began reloading her revolver. She shot 14-year-old Victoria first. Then 12-year-old Christine understood what was happening.
She fled the room to call 911. Sungnam chased Christine and fired multiple times at her while she was still talking to the dispatcher. Christine was shot three times, while Victoria was fired five times. Both were wounded but alive. They also successfully locked their mom out of the room and waved at the first responders so that the authorities could rescue them.
Meanwhile, the mother shot herself in the chest in another room. But she survived. The 12-year-old kid’s call brought the first responders into the home while shots were still ringing. They sent all three to the hospital. Sungnam was initially declared unfit for trial in 2003.
She was sent to a mental institution and was declared fit for trial in 2004. In 2006 she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45 years in jail without any parole possibility. Christine and Victoria recovered from the incident and went on to live with family in New England.
Did Sungnam Kwon Lisowski’s Husband Really Cheat on Her?
Sungnam Kwon Lisowski admitted that she went on the shooting spree because her husband was having an affair with a woman from China. She confessed that she shot her daughters because she didn’t want her husband’s lover to raise them. The investigation revealed an e-mail from her 46-year-old husband, John Lisowski, on September 5.
In the mail, he asked Sungnam for a divorce. Authorities also discovered that Sungnam had applied for a firearm owner’s ID that month. Also, she had bought a six-shot Colt Cobra revolver, the murder weapon, just days before the fatal shooting day, on December 17.
She waited till Christmas morning to commit the crime because John had to travel regularly for work as he worked as a supervisor of Lucent Technologies Inc. He returned six days after Sungnam had purchased the weapon. Only a couple of days later, the shooting happened.
The entire case will be revisited in ID’s Evil Lives Here. The We’re Glad Mom is Dead episode will air at 9 PM ET this Sunday.
