The artificial disk installation is a recently FDA-approved treatment that allows free movement and restricts stress on the remaining vertebrae as opposed to traditional cervical surgery.
He had a Mobi-C disk inserted in C5-C6, but it was eventually considered a failure. The surgery couldn’t remove the entire bone spur, which would leave a pinching feeling in the vertebrae if untreated. He then went for a second surgery to rectify it.
