In recent years, the word ‘doujinshi’ has become almost synonymous with hentai manga. However, some fan-made manga still breaks the conventions by creating beautiful, inspired series with a well-thought-out plot.
Dragon Ball Kakumei, a doujinshi of the Dragon Ball series, is one such doujinshi that has won over thousands of fans with its excellent story that creates an alternate ending to the Tournament of Power.
From the similar art style to the same ambitious Goku, everything fits in perfectly with the original series, making fans wish it could get an anime of its own. Surprisingly, your dreams are about to come true.
What Is Dragon Ball Kakumei? Is it Original?
Dragon Ball Kakumei is the name of a fan-made (doujin) manga inspired by the Dragon Ball series. Akira Toriyama, the original author of Dragon Ball, has nothing to do with this specific manga and is not involved in the creation process since it’s fan-made.
The artwork is similar to that of Dragon Ball, if not more gorgeous. If you have already exhausted the Dragon Ball series and would want an alternate theory story, then Dragon Ball Kakumei is your answer.
Dragon Ball Kakumei Plot
Dragon Ball Kakumei provides an alternate ending to the Tournament of Power. The manga begins with Goku and Freeza teaming up to defeat Jiren and eventually succeeding. Afterward, the decisive wish was made by Android 17 to restore all erased universes.
However, some dangerous universes were also brought back along with the innocent ones. At the Grand Priest’s palace, it is revealed that billions of years ago, a nebulous universe existed that was filled to the brim with malicious intent. Six universes that had been erased by Lord Zeno were restored as well, along with a particular Universe 9.
Immediately afterward, an unknown individual attacks the palace and forces the Grand Master to fight him. It is foreshadowed that Goku’s next mission will be related to these universes.
Is Dragon Ball Kakumei Getting an Anime?
Reenko, the creator of Dragon Ball Kakumei, shared some character designs on Twitter for an upcoming animation. She claimed that the animation would take some time to come out. On June 29, the creator confirmed the first chapter of the manga is set to receive an animation.
However, there is no guarantee that it will be a conventional anime series, as, after all, it is a fan-made manga, and the original publishers are not included in the process. It is most likely to be an independent animation project.
Where to Read Dragon Ball Kakumei?
You can find chapters of Dragon Ball Kakumei on Webtoons or on Mangadraft. So far, it has around 20 chapters and is incredibly famous among Dragon Ball fans. The plot and illustration are both well-constructed, and every chapter offers an unlikely twist.
What sets Kakumei apart from any other doujinshi is its lack of erotic scenes. While most Doujin series concentrates on a particular ship or show explicit sexual scenes, Kakumei is made purely for more action and adventure.
The animation decision shocked many fans as it was something unthinkable for just a doujinshi. You can call it top-level manifestation.
Are you excited about the upcoming animation too? Fingers crossed for a beautiful series that will launch the manga into fame.
