Sosuke Aizen, the man and the myth himself, makes a cameo in Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Arc. There is no doubt that the scene managed to get plenty of jaw-dropping reactions.
Aizen appeared for just a few seconds, but it was enough to remind fans of the dangers lurking in the underground prison of the Soul Society.
Episode 21 of Bleach TYBW had many twists and turns, but the reminder of Aizen being alive is the most eye-catching of them all.
The last time we saw Aizen was in the Fake Karakura Town arc when the judges sentenced him to 20,000 years in Muken for his crimes. His immortality prevents him from being killed. So far, he was all but forgotten in the face of Yhwach, but now many are curious why Aizen has been brought up again.
Is Aizen Alive in the Thousand-Year Blood War?
Yes, Sosuke Aizen, the former captain of the 5th Division among the Gotei 13, who later betrayed the Soul Society, is still alive during the Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War. Aizen could only be imprisoned after he was defeated, as he is immortal and cannot be killed.
Episode 21 of Bleach Thousand Year Blood War, titled ‘The Headless Star’ featured an original scene with Aizen. He was shown only for a few seconds, previewing his upcoming role in the arc.
In the scene, Aizen is shown inside Muken, the eighth and lowest level of the underground prison. He is imprisoned with his whole body obstructed, and his eyes and mouth are sealed.
The scene takes place right after Shunsui’s speech, which is a significant foreshadowing. He wants to stop the destruction at any cost and wants to bring in Aizen to stop Yhwach.
[SPOILER ALERT]
Will Sosuke Aizen Return in Thousand-Year Blood War?
Yes, Sosuke Aizen will return in Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War. He is still alive and will have a role to play in the battle against Yhwach. He is sought after by both Yhwach and the Soul Society to weaponize him against the opponent.
In the upcoming episodes of the anime, Yhwach will be the first one to approach Aizen and offer him a place in the Wandenreich as a Special War Power. Due to their shared goal of the Soul Society’s destruction, Yhwach thought it would be easy to enlist Aizen, but Aizen flatly refused the offer.
Later, Shinsuke Kyouraku will visit Aizen after the death of the Soul King. He unlocks the seal over Aizen’s mouth, left eye, and ankle. Soon, he is brought to the surface of the Seireitei. He tries to destroy the Soul King Palace but fails due to the cap on his Reiatsu.
When he faces Yhwach, Aizen’s bindings are destroyed, giving him his full power back. He and Ichigo face the Quincy Emperor together, but Aizen is caught off guard in Yhwach’s darkness. Ichigo finally defeats Yhwach, and Aizen is bound and imprisoned once again in a chair.
Will Aizen Die in Bleach?
No, Aizen will not die in Bleach. He is immortal and will remain alive along with the Soul Society. He was only imprisoned in the Fake Karakura Town Arc and will be bound in the Mukai again at the end of the Thousand Year Blood War.
Aizen was sentenced to be imprisoned in the Muken for 20,000 years at the end of the Fake Karakura Town arc. He will once again surface when the Soul Society feels helpless against Yhwach. However, he is still just as malicious and will be imprisoned again in Mukai with another chair and reinforced bindings.
The next time Aizen is seen in the manga is ten years later when he senses the last remnants of Yhwach’s Reiatsu disappear.
So now you know that your favorite hot villain never actually dies and just suffers for eternity. However, with Aizen’s intellect and mentality, he is very likely just waiting for the next opportunity to destroy the Soul Society.
