Jujutsu Kaisen and character deaths are synonymous with each other. After all, the number of characters who have died or are thought to have passed away is too high.

In fact, it’s challenging to keep track of who died and who didn’t. Now, another character has entered this conversation- Nobara Kugisaki.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen.

So, has she been killed off with the door to her return permanently shut? Or is there a crack of hope?

Yes, Nobara Kugisaki is dead in Jujutsu Kaisen. She was killed while fighting curse Mahito in the Shibuya Incident. Her death happened in episode 43 or season 2, episode 19 of the anime, and Chapter 125 of the manga. She can return because Arata Nitta has frozen her body. So, if the Reverse Cursed Technique is used, she can be brought back to life.

The currently ongoing Shibuya Incident was chock full of significant character deaths. Or if the characters weren’t dead, they were gravely injured with a question mark over their survival.

One of the characters who now has a question mark over their death is Nobara Kugisaki, the female protagonist of the series. So, is she really dead? Yes, as of now, she is dead.

Writer Geje Akutami had shown a long time ago that he wasn’t afraid of killing off characters as the story progressed, and this is another instance of that.

Her death happens in episode 43 of the show or the 19th episode of the second season. In the manga, her death happens in Chapter 125. But how did she die?

During the Shibuya incident, Nobara and Yuji faced off with the curse Mahito. Since it is one of the most potent curses, the technique allowed him to transform a soul with a touch. It could either be his own or his opponent’s.

Once applied, he could manipulate the target’s body to look like their soul. As one might expect, it’s a painful and harrowing process. Mahito then split himself into two to face off against Nobara and Yuji individually.

Nobara used her cursed technique, which let her attack Mahito’s soul through cut-off body parts. The curse realized it had met its match and switched places with the double, confusing the sorcerers.

When Yuji defeated the double, Mahito used this opportunity to touch a confused Nobara. Then, using Idle Transfiguration, Mahito killed Nobara, and her side of the head exploded.

Since Yuji couldn’t control Sukuna’s powers, he couldn’t use reverse-cursed energy to save Nobara.

So, can Nobara Kugisaki return?

The question everyone is wondering is- can Nobara Kugisaki come back? As of chapter 244, she hasn’t returned. However, she can come back. After all, it hasn’t been clearly stated in the manga that she is dead.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, deaths are clearly mentioned. It’s revealed in some way or other to the audiences that a character is, for sure, dead. However, since this hasn’t been done yet for  Kugisaki.

Since her fate is still a mystery and new chapters are still being released, Nobara could be revived soon. Also, there’s reason to believe she can be brought back to life.

Nobara deserved better. She fought so hard to protect her friends and her dreams.

After all, when Arata Nitta arrived on the battle scene, he used his healing ability to freeze her body with the injuries. So, her body is stuck in the immediate moments after her passing.

So she can be healed if someone like Shoko Ieiri or Okkotsu Yuta uses their Reverse Cursed Techniques. But do fans think she will be brought back? Yes. Many viewers and readers of the series think so.

This is because she is a fan favorite and a significant part of Gojo’s team. Also, with most of his allies gone as of Chapter 244, he could use some help now. So, if she returns, she can play an essential role in defeating Sukuna and Kenjaku.

What do you think of Nobara Kugisaki’s death? Can she be brought back to life? Should she return?

Let us know your thoughts on her death in the comments below.
