The U.S. Coast Guard finally uncovered the Titan sub’s mystery. After conducting a rigorous search and rescue operation, it was revealed that OceanGate’s Titan had catastrophically imploded.
The search parties found the nose and large and small debris fields near the Titanic shipwreck. They are still looking for more parts, thus trying to find the trail of parts for more information.
For security, the Navy has hidden sensors. On Sunday, not long after the Titan departed for the voyage, the Navy sensors picked up a sound. Reportedly, the Navy described the noise as not definite, with an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion.
Why Did It Take the Navy So Long to Disclose the Facts?
The Titan sub left on Sunday morning to visit the Titanic shipwreck. The vessel lost all communications within 1 hour and 45 mins of departure. However, it took a few more hours for the Navy to announce that the sub was missing.
The Navy heard on their sensors an anomaly that could be an implosion or explosion. Then, what exactly was the holdup?
The truth is that the Navy can’t randomly announce that the vessel is lost. They must confirm the information first and conduct a drill to locate the watercraft. If they fail in all their attempts to contact the sub, they can only announce the disappearance.
With Titan, after hearing the noise in the acoustic data, they conducted a drill to reach out to Titan. After failing in their attempt, the news was made public.
Titanic’s Director James Cameron Talks About the Titan’s Implosion
The Titanic (1912), which later sank, is a horrific chapter in our history. The accident was perfectly sketched on the big screen by director James Cameron. The movie was a blockbuster hit and won almost all the awards that year.
There have been numerous controversies surrounding the Titanic incident to date. However, the director didn’t reveal any of them in his movie. Rather, he turned it into a love story that is still remembered.
The disappearance of Titan near the Titanic again added fuel to the rumors. Some reporters contacted James and wanted to know his views on the matter. James revealed that he used some of his contacts of military origin to satisfy his distress about the Titan.
When he heard the news of Titan’s disappearance near the Titanic shipwreck, he hoped that his analysis was wrong, but the vessel could have imploded.
During his time with the Titanic, he conducted in-depth research to draw a finished piece of art for the audience. He knew the dangers surrounding underwater driving, especially near the Titanic.
The director told CNN –
“The only scenario that I could come up with in my mind that could account for that was an implosion – a shock wave event so powerful that it actually took out a secondary system that has its own pressure vessel and its own battery power supply, which is the transponder that the (mother) ship uses to track where the sub is.”
James Cameron
The exact cause of the implosion is still to be found. The search parties are continuously sweeping the area to find more evidence.
