Some musicians and singers have iconic looks, which become a part of their brand. Hank Williams Jr. has his glasses and beard, while Morgan Wallen has his mullet and mustache. However, the country singer did something to his hair, leaving everyone gasping at a recent concert.
Wallen, an American country songwriter and singer from Sneedville, Tennessee, first rose to fame as a contestant on The Voice season 6. Initially, he was a part of Usher’s team, and later became a part of Adam Levine’s team 12. Wallen is known for his iconic songs like Whiskey Glasses, The Way I Talk, and more.
Singer-songwriter Morgan Wallen is also known for his hair. His mullet and mustache have garnered a fan following of itself. However, at a recent One Night At A Time World Tour concert at Columbus’ Ohio Stadium, he no longer had his mustache or mullet. Instead, he sported a red ball cap to hide his bald head. Wallen confirmed during the show that he had shaved his mullet off because he didn’t like it anymore. In response, the crowd heavily booed him.
Did Morgan Wallen Shave His Mullet?
Morgan Wallen is currently on his One Night At A Time World Tour. His tour began earlier this year with performances in Australia and New Zealand, and it will continue till October 7, 2023. However, he would have begun earlier if not for vocal fold trauma, which is caused as a result of improper and excessive use of the voice.
When he arrived at Columbus’ Ohio Stadium, fans gathered there to enjoy his music and found him looking off and different. Instead of his signature silky mullet and mustache that makes people go gaga over it, he had a nude upper lip and a red cap on his head.
His long hair wasn’t peeking out from underneath the cap, and everyone thought he looked bald. That suspicion turned out to be true, as Morgan Wallen addressed why he had shaved his mullet two songs into the concert. People magazine reported him saying:
“Before we get any further, I didn’t like my long hair anymore, so I shaved it off.”
His announcement was met with the crowd booing at him. Over on social media, the reaction hasn’t been positive as well. Many joked that they wanted him to grow it back or that they needed some time to process the fact that his hair was gone and the mullet era was over.
Initially, Morgan Wallen wasn’t going to sport a mullet at all. He had short hair, which was loved by audiences too. The singer got the idea of having that look after he went through a photo album of his parents and saw that his father had a mullet on his wedding day.
So, he decided to try out that style. However, his stylist thought the look needed to be more contemporary for him. As such, when he was getting ready for his Risers performance, the stylist trimmed the sides and did a little more work to make the mullet style look more modern.
However, it’s time for fans to accept that the mullet isn’t coming back anytime soon.
