It looks like Marvel’s bow and arrow-wielding hero- Hawkeye’s actor Jeremy Renner has a habit of giving audiences a scare. In January 2023, the star frightened everyone after getting caught in the path of a snowplow while trying to rescue his nephew from that machine. The actor suffered grievous injuries as the machine ran over his body. He had to be airlifted to a hospital.
However, over time, he recovered, and news of his recovery was like sweet music to the ears of his fans. But his followers will have to crease their foreheads and raise their eyebrows again because the hashtag #RIPJeremyRenner was trending again. As such, Marvel fans are scrambling on various social media platforms with one question- Is Jeremy Renner dead?
No, Jeremy Renner isn’t dead. The actor is alive and well. The hashtag #RIPJeremyRenner is trending because people want to cancel the Hawkeye actor for his controversial views on women since he called Black Widow a slut. Also, many are canceling Renner based on the accusations of his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco. She accused her ex-husband of threatening to harm himself, her, and their child.
Did Jeremy Renner Pass Away? Why Is RIPJeremyRenner Hashtag Trending?
No, there have been no official reports of the actor Jeremy Renner passing away. In April 2023, he was seen at the red carpet premiere of his Disney+ show Rennervations. He looked healthy, and it certainly looked like he had recovered from the disastrous snowplow incident of January that almost took his life. But this isn’t the first time the RIPJeremyRenner hashtag has been trending.
In 2017, it was rumored that the actor had died in an escalator accident. But that was proven false. So why is the hashtag RIPJeremyRenner suddenly trending on Twitter now? After all, the actor has been living a lowkey life after recovering.
It turns out the hashtag is part of a small but growing movement attempting to cancel Renner for several controversial incidents from his past. A major one among them is regarding the Marvel star’s actions towards Sonni Pacheco, his ex-wife. The couple parted ways in 2014 after a divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
Later on, Pacheco alleged in court in October 2019 that her ex-husband had threatened to kill her and himself. She said he had put a gun in his mouth and fired it at the ceiling to intimidate her. He had apparently done this when their daughter, Ava, was sleeping in the same bedroom.
That’s not all. Sonni alleged that the nanny heard Jeremy saying he was planning to kill her and himself because it was better for their child to have no parents than to have Pacheco as a mother. Renner’s ex-wife alleged that he had struggled with alcohol as well as drug usage for a long time, dating back to before and even through their marriage.
She also said that the star had bitten their daughter under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. Also, he had apparently left cocaine within their child’s reach and refused to pay full child support. Renner had brushed off all the claims. In an interview with Men’s Health magazine, he remarked:
“I don’t respond publicly or privately to nonsense. It only empowers it. If you respond to it, you give it gas. I don’t fuel s–t fires. I just don’t do it. I refuse to.”
A representative of the Wind River star said in 2019 that Sonni had dramatized incidences with a specific goal in mind. While the rep didn’t spell out the plan, it’s easy to infer that the aim could be to defame the MCU actor. The actor didn’t back down and instead accused Sonni of misappropriating funds set aside for their daughter.
In retaliation, she had said:
“This is a small insight into what I have been dealing with over the years. Which leads us to now, the upcoming court case — about me Misappropriating Ava’s Funds’ and Jeremy seeking to reduce child support.”
While the court case results weren’t revealed to the public, Radar Online reported that the two of them had somewhat reconciled, and Sonni had even called her ex-husband after his frightening snowplow incident. But this is just one part of the trending hashtag. People are also upset at Jeremy for using derogatory language.
One such instance was of him calling his co-star, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, a sl*t. So even though he enjoyed the goodwill of the public during his January accident, it now looks like people are slowly turning against him again. So will the #RIPJeremyRenner hashtag cancel him? That remains to be seen.
So what are your thoughts on the #RIPJeremyRenner?
Does the star deserve to be canceled for a private matter that hasn’t been proven true or false yet? Or should one wait for more clarification from both parties?
