Blake Shelton is one of the most famous country singers, known globally for his charm, wits, consideration, sweet personality, honey voice, … and we could go on; and last but not least, being married to pop icon Gwen Stefani. He met his wife while they both were judges on The Voice, expressing his gratitude for the right timing–
“Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.”
Meanwhile, Shelton became the face of Country Music as he promoted his roots on the hit talent show, The Voice. He was beloved by many for his calm nature and profound mentorship of aspiring singers. And soon, the world took notice of his voice as he popularized country music globally.
Subsequently, he became the most sought-after musician in the country genre. County Music Television Network CMT announced they would launch a new show starring Blake Shelton.
The network television is entirely dedicated to country music, promoting and releasing new music videos, and producing biographies and documentaries based on the lives of influential musicians. Shelton was roped in a $30 million deal for a project with CMT. Fans were ecstatic to see the country star back in action after his departure from The Voice.
On July 22, 2023, an article surfaced that claimed that Blake Shelton had canceled the CMT deal in solidarity with fellow country musician Jason Aldean. Aldean’s music video for his song “Try That In a Small Town” was pulled out hours after its release on network television following a controversy. The article reported that Blake Shelton dropped the CMT deal to rebel against the network. However, these are just rumors and hold no truth whatsoever.

He also clarified his stance on the accusations that he promoted any form of violence or bigotry–
“There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.”
July 22: The Dunning-Kruger Times uploaded an article that stated that Blake Shelton had canceled his $30 Million deal with CMT to support Jason Aldean.
Did Blake Shelton Really Cancel CMT?
The Dunning-Kruger Times serves as a parody news network that trolls the right-wing media and conservative folks.
They upload fake articles as a spoof of current events. Another case of a fake article induced chaos on social media for replacing a monumental feat with a pride flag.
This fake article on Blake Shelton has been debunked, considering the source of information. The rumors are indeed false, and Blake Shelton will continue on his project with CMT. But the reactions that ensued after this fake news were indeed entertaining.
“Blake Shelton W. Middle finger to the woke mob,” wrote one Twitter User.
Another user pointed out– “…Jason is correct…the rioting would NEVER have been tolerated in Blake’s hometown of Ada, Oklahoma…”
More netizens fell prey to fake news–
“Look what CMT’s wokeness got them… Blake Shelton cancels 30 million dollar project with #CMT.”
“CMT is owned by Paramount. They also own BET and MTV and have no problem with music about killing cops, thugs, drugs, and sex. There needs to be a sign made by shareholders on the wall of every corporate boardroom that says: ‘GO WOKE, GO BROKE'”
Finally, one user was found who caught up with the shenanigans– “A whole lot of people are falling for this really obvious troll from a site named “Dunning Kruger Times.”
