With the individual contracts of BLACKPINK members being due for renewal in August 2023, one of the all-female group’s futures has sparked quite an interest among both the fans and curious individuals.

Lisa, the pivotal member of the K-pop female band BLACKPINK, which made history by becoming the second-ever girl band to win the Best Group at MTV Video Music Awards, also had her renewal discussion with YG Entertainment, and it is not looking good as things stand.

Lisa has reportedly turned down a substantial amount of 50 billion won, which is equivalent to 37.6 million dollars, to renew her existing contract with YG Entertainment. Following the rumor, YG Entertainment’s stocks have plummeted by 9%.

So, how far is the rumor true, and is she really not renewing her contract with YG Entertainment? Read on to find out.

Is Lisa Not Renewing Her Contract With YG Entertainment?

Although BLACKPINK, the most popular female K-pop band in the world, is quite successful, with its immense global reach and dynamic live performances with world tours, Lisa may not be a part of it anymore.

Lisa, also known as Lalisa Manobal, reportedly rejected the renewal offer consisting of 50 billion won from YG Entertainment, and several media outlets within South Korea have claimed that she has received several multi-million dollar offers from other labels.

Following the rumor of Lisa leaving BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment has released a statement to sort out the confusion. According to the statement, the agency is still negotiating with Lisa regarding her renewal, and nothing has been finalized yet, and ensured the rumors are not true.

However, given how their stocks have fallen by a whopping 9%, fans are reluctant to believe their statement. If the rumor turns out to be true, YG Entertainment would definitely have to face a considerable loss. So, they will try everything they can to make Lisa renew her contract.

This is reportedly the second time YG Entertainment has been rejected by Lisa, following the speculations that surfaced in July 2023. Lisa’s future with BLACKPINK remained unsure at that time, and YG Entertainment faced scheduling difficulties as well.

While many believed she was leaving the band for good, YG Entertainment informed the fans that the conflicts arose due to her individual scheduled activities aligned with the world tour and had nothing to do with her contract renewal.

While that eased fans’ discomfort for a while, the recent rumors burst their hopes again, and her future decision remains unknown as of now. Since her contractual status has not officially been resolved, fans can only hope she will make the right decision.

What About the Renewals of Other BLACKPINK Members?

The only reason yg is charging those absurd prices is because they know blackpink will disband this year and they need to milk the most out of you losers

BLACKPINK was formed in 2016, and in these seven years, the band has shattered countless records, emerging as one of the best K-pop groups of all time. Since K-pop groups usually sign seven-year contracts, August 2023 marked the end of their existing contract.

Although the focus has been a bit too much on Lisa due to her circulating rumor, the agency has not confirmed the contract renewals with any other group member, so it is still uncertain whether they will stay together.

But given their group’s dynamic, it is hard to imagine a new member replacing any of them, and it would leave a void in the fan’s hearts if that happened suddenly. So, we can only wait for the official confirmation from the individual members.

So, what do you think about the rumor surrounding Lisa’s contract renewal? Do you think she will leave BLACKPINK?
