So, how many did it take home out of the nine?

The 2023 live-action Barbie movie had nine nominations at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. Out of these, it won in two categories. Additionally, the film won the Best Original Song award for “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

The film was honored with the first-ever Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award for gross revenue of $1.44 billion globally, surpassing even Taylor Swift’s “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which was highly anticipated to win in this category.

Additionally, Barbie secured the Best Original Song award for “What Was I Made For?” The victory in this category celebrated the touching and melancholic piano ballad penned by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

Despite not winning individual awards for their performances in Barbie, both Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie played significant roles in the movie’s success.

Robbie graciously accepted the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, wearing a stunning Barbie-inspired pink gown.

During her acceptance speech, Margot expressed gratitude to moviegoers worldwide, saying:

“We’d like to dedicate this to every single person on the planet who dressed up and went to the greatest place on Earth: the movie theaters.”

The plot of the 2023 live-action Barbie movie revolved around the iconic doll’s journey in a modern and imaginative world.

Margot Robbie immersed herself in the role of Barbie, a character who faced expulsion from Barbieland due to her non-conformist nature.

Barbie embarked on an adventure in the real world, where she discovered that her uniqueness is an asset rather than a liability. The film delved into themes of self-acceptance and individuality.

As Barbie navigated the challenges of the real world, she learned valuable life lessons and inspired those around her.

The movie aimed to convey a powerful message of empowerment and inclusivity to its audience, making it a heartwarming and impactful cinematic experience.

Do you think Gosling and Robbie should have won in their individual categories? Should the film have won more awards?
