The Enji family has gone through some of the worst hardships in the recent chapters of My Hero Academia. Dabi’s flames were out of control, and Endeavor almost lost the battle against him.
In the grave situation, Dabi’s mother and younger siblings appeared beside Endeavor to help him. In the absence of Shoto, all the ice power users of the family aided Endeavor in the battle.
In chapter 388, Dabi’s blue flames cause immense destruction, causing the heroes to evacuate. Despite Endeavor’s best efforts, he can’t sustain the flames. Just as he is about to be overpowered, his wife, Rei, reaches the scene and uses her ice quirk to cool off Dabi while shielding herself.
Endeavor warns her that she will burn to death if she doesn’t run, but Rei does not want to see her son and husband burn in front of her eyes, so she stays put. Shortly, Fuyumi and Natsuo also arrive at the location.
Both the siblings remember the happy times with their big brother back when they were younger and cannot bear losing anyone else. Fuyumi and Natsuo also use their powers to help their mom in colling Dabi.
Endeavor finds himself in the most helpless situation as he begs Dabi not to kill off anyone as revenge against him should be enough.
The plot then moves forward in chapter 389, where the Counter Force reports that while the rising of the temperature has slowed down, the heat is not dropping, meaning that an explosion is inevitable. At the center of the blast is the Enji family.
Thankfully, Shoto arrives at the spot with help from Ingenium. As he enters the vicinity, an explosion is on the verge of occurring. He then unleashes Great Glacial Aegir, which completely consumes Dabi’s flames and cools him down. Shoto admits that it would have been impossible without his family’s help.
Endeavor is burnt and wounded but still manages to crawl to Dabi to apologize. Dabi, in return, responds that he hates his father and family.
In the next chapter, the physically and mentally wounded Enji family is shown as Endeavor and Dabi lying with significant injuries. Even the other members of the family need treatment.
This has led to fans speculating that Endeavor might not survive the aftermath. However, this seems to be a baseless rumor. The reconciliation with Dabi is not yet complete, which is Endeavor’s goal now.
Besides, Endeavor is not hurt badly enough to die though the wounds might look bad. The heroes in MHA have recovered from far worse, so I don’t think you have to worry about Endeavor dying in the aftermath of Dabi’s flames.
None of the major characters in MHA has died in the past, so Endeavor perishing now looks like a useless addition. In conclusion, Endeavor is neither dead nor dying.
