Chad Doerman: Why Did an Ohio Father Execute Three Sons?

A pair of 911 calls on Thursday evening alerted the Ohio authorities of something sinister happening in Monroe Township in Clermont County. Little did they know they would face one of the most atrocious crimes of their career when they reached the location.

The first call received at 4:15 pm, recorded an unknown woman screaming that her babies had been shot. The second call came just three minutes later from a person driving by who had encountered a young girl. The girl claimed that her father was killing everyone.

Following the alarming calls, deputies were dispatched and found the wounded bodies of three children. The three boys of, ages 3, 4, and 7, were dead and sprawling in the yard of their Laurel Lindale Road home.

The first crew to reach the scene attempted CPR on the boys but were unsuccessful. They were gunshot victims and died from their injuries on the scene. Officers also discovered the mother of the boys, who had received a gunshot wound to her hand.

The mother was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment and was later alerted that her three sons were dead. Thankfully, the older sister of the boys had managed to escape.

As the authorities searched for the perpetrator, they encountered Doerman, the father of the three children who had shot them in cold blood. Doerman was sitting on the steps outside the family’s residence and was arrested immediately.

The brutality of the shooting was clarified at the court as further details came up during the proceeding. Doerman had shot his three sons with a rifle. One of the boys had tried to flee into a field in vain as Doerman hunted him down and executed him in front of others.

At some point, the mother tried to stop the senseless murders by obstructing the rifle but was shot in her hand.

David Gast, the chief prosecutor of Clermont County, has claimed that it is the worst crime he has seen in his entire career.

“The trauma that this man has inflicted on his family, community, law enforcement, first responders, and all the rest of us is unspeakable.”

Gast also said that Chad Doerman had not only murdered the three boys in cold blood, but he had also confessed to planning and carrying out the deaths of the boys months in advance.

The threat that Doerman posed to the community was highlighted during the case. The shooting caused immense trauma to the mother, who saw her sons being shot before her. Even the first responders tried to save the children in vain. Gast aptly commented, “How do you unsee that sort of abomination?”

Gast was granted a $20 million bond. Doerman has been charged with three counts of aggravated murder. Mark Tekulve, the Clermont County Prosecutor, commented that they would do the utmost so that the defendant never sees the light of day again. His office is currently reviewing all possible charges.

A preliminary hearing for the case has been set for June 26.

During the recent Ohio shooting court proceedings, Doerman confessed that he had murdered his three sons by shooting them with a rifle. However, the motive behind such a criminal action has not been revealed yet.

The father of four had even confessed to planning the murders months in advance. He hunted down the boy who tried to escape and even shot his wife, who was trying to protect them. The eldest daughter was the only one who escaped unscathed if you don’t count the trauma.

The severity of the murder increases tenfold as it is revealed the murder was never on a whim and was pre-planned. I’m sure that even you are stumped while thinking of what could three young boys do to aggravate anyone.

Just to serve as a reminder, the victims were 3, 4, and 7 years old. All at a tender age when they were entirely dependent on their guardian. Instead of caring for the children, Doerman shot them and traumatized everyone involved.
