Anime Expo 2023 brought some of the biggest anime announcements of the upcoming year, and Black Butler receiving a sequel was perhaps the best news of them all.

What Is the Plot of Back Butler Season 4?
If season 4 of Black Butler does not have an original storyline, then it might adapt the Public School arc of the manga.
The Public School arc surrounds a prestigious English boarding school, Weston College, that several students from elite backgrounds attend. Queen Victoria directs Ciel to address the matter, which leads him and Sebastian to infiltrate the school.
Ciel disguises as a new student while Sebastian takes on the role of his tutor. The duo begins their dorm lives of deceit as suspicion falls on the four school prefects whose attention follows everything that happens at the school.
What Happened at the End of Black Butler Season 3?
Book of Circus is the latest season of the Black Butler anime. Episode 10 was the last episode that aired, and it showed Joker dying from blood loss. Doll attacks Ciel and is killed by Sebastian.
Ciel’s decision to sacrifice the captive children is not reported to the Queen by the emissaries. Ciel later explains that the minds of the children could have never been restored.
While episode 46 was the last episode of season 3, the chapters of Black Butler were further adapted by three OVAs and an anime film. Three OVAs adapted the Book of Murder arc, while the 2017 anime film adapted the Book of Atlantic Arc.
In the latest anime film, Ciel boarded the luxury passenger ship Campania. Earl Pantomhive was also there to investigate a case of illegal human experimentation. A doctor was bringing the deceased back to life. The result, however, was not quite human, and the people onboard the ship had a dirty surprise for them.

A new trailer for Black Butler season 4 is out. Crunchyroll has released the video on their YouTube channel with English subtitles.
In the video, Sebastian is elegantly serving Ciel, who, in turn, looks very cunning. While the teaser doesn’t reveal any scenes from season 4 yet, it does show Sebastian saying his trademark, “I am merely one hell of a butler.”

A new key visual has also been revealed for season 4 of Black Butler. The visual shows Sebastian and Ciel posing while standing atop the Phantomhive manor.
Is Black Butler Renewed for Season 4? Black Butler Season 4 Release Date
Yes, Black Butler has been renewed for a fourth season, and it will be released in 2024. During Anime Expo 2023, Crunchyroll announced that Aniplex is producing a completely new anime adaptation of the Black Butler anime.
It should be clarified that the new anime will not be a remake but a new season, so the story will be continued from where it was left off. Crunchyroll has already licensed the anime to stream it worldwide when it debuts.

Is Black Butler Manga Finished?
No, the Black Butler manga has not ended yet and is still ongoing. It has received 32 volumes so far and shows no sign of a nearing conclusion yet.
The manga first debuted 16 years ago and is still one of the most highly-rated dark fantasy series. With over 200 chapters, the manga still has a good fanbase despite the irregular chapter release.
Which Manga Chapter to Read for Black Butler Season 4?
If you have already finished the first three seasons of Black Butler, including the anime film and OVAs, then you can start reading the manga from chapter 66 onwards. The 2017 movie adapted the Luxury Liner arc, which ends in chapter 66. The Public School arc begins in chapter 67 and covers volumes 14-18.
However, most of the first and second seasons consisted of anime’s original plot, so if you want to read the actual storyline, then reading the manga from the very beginning is best.
