Starfield, which highly embodies the world-building of Star Wars, is perhaps the most relevant game Bethesda has ever created for the franchise.

While the game has everything to offer, from space voyages to adrenaline-filled battles, it certainly is not a walk in the park as several complications are involved while playing it.

For one, having a bounty over your head can be quite the headache as you’re constantly interrupted by the authorities on each planet, and it doesn’t feel too good being chased by the Bounty Hunter’s Guild.

So, how can you clear your bounty in Starfield? And what are some of the best and easily accessible locations? Here’s a comprehensive guide to make your game a little easier.

What Is a Bounty and How Does It Work in Starfield?

Playing Starfield, just attacked several UC ships as a pirate and looted probably 4,000-10,000 credits worth of stuff…

A bounty can simply refer to the money offered to the hunters who help the authorities and alliances catch you. These bounties can be gained in many ways, either by breaking specific laws or committing violent acts in a faction.

While there are several factions in Starfield, the Freestar Collective and UC Vanguard are the two major ones, as they control most of the Solar Systems. So, if you’re caught by these systems while stealing, smuggling Contraband, or attacking an NPC, a bounty will be immediately released on your character.

After a bounty is registered on you, you can’t get near the outposts of these factions. In a case where you’re near their premises, their ships will chase you down until you’re caught. Thankfully, there is a way to get rid of the bounties.

You can clear your bounty in Starfield in two ways, and the path you want to tread on depends on your situation. For example, you can quickly pay off bounties if you’re financially good in the game.

For the first method, as soon as you receive a bounty, try to talk to a guard nearby, as they don’t attack you immediately unless you start the assault. After speaking with the guard, he will provide you with two options:

  • Pay the bounty money.
  • Serve some prison time.

Both options will require your Contraband and other illegal items to be confiscated. So, it is not recommended if you have a valuable inventory of Contraband.

The second method would be to pay off the money at the Trackers Alliance by accessing the Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk outside of the faction that placed the bounty on you.

For example, if the Freestar Collective has put a bounty on your character, you can only clear it outside the faction. These places can be found next to Mission Boards in many major cities.

#Starfield players, did you know you can create a self-service bounty clearance kiosk on your outpost? Just find a planet/moon ideally without extreme environment status, in a system under no faction jurisdiction, and have 4 Aluminum, two Beryllium, and two Zero Wire units. 😎 pic.twitter.com/v5lBWFrUKH

Using the same process, you can also try another method: create a Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk within your Outpost. You can build it using two Zero Wire, four Aluminum, and two Beryllium.

What Are Some of the Best Bounty Clearance Kiosk Locations on Starfield?

Anyone playing Starfield know how I am supposed to deal with this bounty. The UC keep shooting me on sight and I need to go to Mars to progress the story 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/u5HnKwHW2G

As mentioned above, you can find these in many locations, but it can get a bit challenging for the new players. So, here are some of the convenient Bounty Clearance Kiosk spots in Starfield:

  • Hopetown (Polvo and Valo)
  • Trident Luxury Lines Staryard (Cheyenne)
  • Cydonia (Mars and Sol)
  • New Atlantis (Jemison and Alpha Centauri)
  • Neon (Volii Alpha and Volii)
  • Akila City (Akila and Cheyenne)
  • Civilian Outposts

So, that’s how you clear your bounty in Starfield. You can now confidently journey through the factions without worrying about being treated like a criminal unless you commit another treason.
