Starfield is an incredible game that allows you to build and ride your own spaceship as you gallant through an intergalactic voyage in search of amusement.

However, while it seems simple at first glance, there are a few things you need to do in order to enrich your experience.

For example, as mentioned in our previous article, you can collect contraband and other items to smuggle them for higher profits. Just like that, the most important thing is to look after the ship you’re using to travel from one planet to the other.

The best way to do that is by upgrading your ship so that it works in the best condition and won’t hinder your gaming experience. So, below, we’ve listed the guide to how you can upgrade your ship easily, as well as what Habs you can use to make it more efficient.

While you can pretend to be a mechanic who can repair your ship by simply modifying a specific part of your ship from the menu, replacing things such as Grav Drive requires a professional, even in the game.

So, you can follow the procedure below, which is described in detail after highlighting the points through a bullet list.

  • Visit New Atlantis
  • Find the Ship Service Technician
  • Choose Your Upgrades
  • Purchase the Upgrades

If you follow the above steps, the ship upgrade gets relatively easy because all you need to do is enter New Atlantis, which is located on the planet Jemison. Upon landing, a technician will automatically appear, and you’re good to go.

While the process seems like a piece of cake, there is a catch to it. Ship Customization requires you to collect parts depending on your specified upgrade. For example, if you plan on improving the ship’s speed, you may want to attach more engines that thrust you through space, like a sonic beam.

So, you first need to determine what you want to upgrade in your ship and then visit any general goods store that appears everywhere, like Trade Authority and Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis.

Assuming you already have followed the procedure clearly and upgraded your ship, you may believe that’s enough. However, there is another significant boost you can give to your ship, which is through the Hab Module.

One could unlock numerous Hab functions just after starting the game, but we often overlook the fact after indulging ourselves in the game a bit too much. So, here are the best Ship Habs and Hab Modules you can use as a beginner and certainly later in the game.

  • Weapon Workbench: Weapon Workbench is a Hab addition that you can use to craft and equip weapons to your ship, which will later help you battle others in the galaxy.
  • Industrial Workbench: Even if you have a Weapon Workbench, you don’t always obtain the desired materials. So, if you possess this, you can craft the necessary components to create anything you want through other Hab additions.
  • Spacesuit Workbench: As we know, Armor is a critical part of any adventure because you don’t know what kind of enemy you will encounter. Spacesuit Workbench lets you craft Armor mods, which not only enhance your defensive abilities but also provide damage and elemental resistance.
  • Pharmaceutical Lab: Even if you’re a pro in the game, there are many instances where you lose a lot of health and have to wait until you respawn. If you have the Pharmaceutical Lab function, you can easily craft aid items such as alien genetic material, trauma packs, booster injectors, anchored immobilizers, and many more.
  • Armory Hab: If you have a Weapon Workbench, then Armory Hab is a must because it stores and displays all the available weapons to ensure you prepare for every battle beforehand.
  • Cargo Hall: Cargo Hall is one of the few essential Hab modules you must have if you’re planning to scurry through the galaxies by carrying a heavy load of items you’ve found or stolen. It provides a good storage space and comes in quite handy.

So, these are the must-have Starfield habs if you’re planning to have the utmost fun with the game. You can unlock them anywhere with Hab manufacturers, like New Homestead, Hopetown, and others.
