Just when fans thought the story couldn’t become any more tragic and brutal, Gege Akutami introduced another plot twist in Jujutsu Kaisen manga Chapter 237.

Fans are already devastated by the death of Gojo Satoru in the previous chapter, where he was cut in half by Sukuna. However, an interesting development in the story now hints at Megumi’s death.

So, is Megumi Fushiguro dead in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga? Although it is not stated straightforwardly in Chapter 237, Sukuna has been reincarnated by using Megumi’s body as a vessel, and given the young sorcerer’s mental state due to the passing of his sister, Tsumiki Fushiguro, he may not come back to life as two souls can’t coexist in a single body.

What Happened to Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen Manga?

I had a little theory this would happen…But I never would have thought it would come to light. Megumi is my favorite character and seeing this is Devastating for me, I Can Only Imagine Gojo’s Reaction Once He See’s This Craziness💀 #JujutsuKaisen212 pic.twitter.com/XEwhlc0GHY

As the manga has taken the tragic path long ago since the Shibuya Incident arc, in Chapter 212, Sukuna forcibly took over the body of Megumi after killing his sister, Tsumiki Fushiguro.

Since the story’s beginning, Sukuna has always shown more interest in Megumi than Itadori, his vessel. While Chapter 212 hinted that his possession may be temporary, Chapter 237 proved the readers wrong.

Megumi’s body is not just a vessel to host Sukuna’s cursed spirit, but he also uses it to be reincarnated in Chapter 237, hinting at the death of Megumi Fushiguro.

While he didn’t transform during his battle with Gojo, he started it as soon as his battle began with Kashimo in the latest chapter.

Following Sukuna’s triumph against Gojo Satoru in Chapter 236, Kashimo arrives on the battlefield to confront the King of Curses while Hakari battles Uraume. While the readers thought Kashimo wouldn’t be a match against Sukuna, he flipped their expectations.

He unleashed his unique cursed technique known as “Genju Kohasaku,” which, while granting him power beyond expectations, may result in a fatal consequence once the battle finishes, which is in Sukuna’s favor.

In the meanwhile, none of Yuji, Shoko, and Yuta are present on the battlefield, and Gojo’s body is nowhere to be seen. This could be a hint that they are somehow trying to bring Gojo back to life so that he can help Megumi get his body back from Sukuna.

Is Megumi Dead in Jujutsu Kaisen Manga?

It just hit me that the only thing that's been keeping me afloat is the fact that megumi's soul is so far down the darkest depths of the abyss he mooooost likely lacks awareness of Gojo's death 💀 He's been through more than enough already I am NOT in need of any extra heartache pic.twitter.com/ZkjJ0Pp9ta

Although the odds are in favor of Sukuna, given that Megumi is deeply involved in a sorrowful state after losing his sister, it is not confirmed yet, but given how Gege Akutami is driving the story down a tragic path, we should not be surprised if that happens.

In any case, before the complete transformation of Sukuna, many had hope that Megumi would somehow get his consciousness back, even if he lacked the proficiency to control the cursed spirit that occupied his body like Itadori.

However, now it has become hopeless, given Gojo is gone and the other sorcerers are nowhere to be seen. We can only hope Yuji and others may find a solution that is secretly told by Gojo during his battle with Sukuna to revive him, which, in turn, will save Megumi from losing his life for good.

From another perspective, these deaths may be permanent and will motivate Yuji to become stronger and shine in the story, providing a unique depth to his character, which has been a much-needed development in the manga.

I don't know if it will be a good day for fans of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen..#MHA #JUJUTSUKAISEN #MHA402 #JUJUTSUKAISEN237 pic.twitter.com/hbGbGfVnan
