Larry “Moon” Thompson was a constant presence in the lives of the viewers who loved tuning into KS95 to listen to the “Moon and Staci Show.”

However, he has been missing from the beloved show for quite some time, and this has prompted questions about his death. So, has Larry passed away?

Larry “Moon” Thompson, a beloved radio personality, passed away on January 25, 2024, after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis (MS) since 2005. KS95, where he hosted the “Moon and Staci Show” for 17 years, revealed his passing was due to MS-related health complications. Moon stepped away from the show in 2019 to focus on his health.

A cloud of sadness looms over the Twin Cities as news of the passing of Larry “Moon” Thompson, a cherished radio personality, on January 25, 2024, has left listeners in mourning. 

After a prolonged battle with multiple sclerosis (MS), Moon bid his final farewell. KS95, where he spent 17 vibrant years hosting the “Moon and Staci Show” in the afternoon, announced his passing due to health complications linked to MS.

Moon’s 17-year partnership with Staci on the afternoon show made him a big personality on the station. Known for his infectious positivity, occasional eccentricity, boundless energy, and genuinely caring nature, Moon’s presence left an indelible mark. 

His love for radio, laughter, and connecting with KS95 listeners defined his memorable career.

Moon’s departure from the show in October 2019 aimed to prioritize his health following an MS diagnosis in 2005.

In recognition of his remarkable contributions, he was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame in September 2021. 

KS95 plans to commemorate Moon on air throughout the day and via social media under the hashtag #RememberingMoon.
