YG Entertainment has been through hell and back. From piling debts to falling stock prices, severe legal allegations, and multiple charges, it felt like YG was under some evil spell.

Ever since the Burning Sun scandal, the YG’s reputation has spiraled into a whirlwind of more controversies. Former CEO Yang Hyun-Suk was himself involved in severe criminal allegations and has been arrested.

Following the Korean Hallyu wave for a while now, I analyzed the dwindling OG music label, and it seems that YG Entertainment is solely hanging by a Blackpink thread.

Ikon lost his leader, Winner is in the military, BigBang’s maknae, Seungri was in prison, and leader G-Dragon was being investigated for drugs. Meanwhile, the rookie group Babymontser is criticized for a lackluster debut.

Needless to say, YG Entertainment needs a royal flush to get out of the rut. And it seems like they are ready to gamble on a new group in 2024.

So, here’s the million-dollar question: Is YG Entertainment, the powerhouse behind some of our favorite head-bobbing, heart-throbbing acts, gearing up to launch a new group? The rumor mills are spinning, folks, and trust me, they’re not playing any slow jams.

Now, let’s play a bit of detective. YG Entertainment, a name synonymous with chart-toppers and trendsetters, has always been a master at playing the long game. Remember the anticipation that built up before the debut of BLACKPINK?

It was like waiting for the finale of your favorite drama series. And now, with the company’s ex-big boss, Yang Hyun Suk, snapping up a cool 461,940 shares like it’s Black Friday, something’s definitely up.

So, are the rumors true? Is YG Entertainment rolling out a new group? The answer is a resounding yes! As per official statements, they’re cooking up not just one but potentially multiple new groups, aiming to dazzle domestic and international audiences.

Talk about an all-you-can-eat buffet of fresh talent!

The Inside Scoop: What Is YG Entertainment Exactly Planning For 2024?

Now, let’s dive into the meat and potatoes of this story. YG Entertainment isn’t just thinking about launching a new group; they’re planning a full-blown talent hunt, scoping out potential stars from across the globe. An official from YG spilled the beans, saying,

“Our goal is to introduce at least one new group this year by launching a project to identify and cultivate global talents through local auditions, not only domestically but also overseas.”

Translation: YG’s casting their net wide, and who knows what kind of sensational talent they’ll reel in?

But wait, there’s more. YG’s not just looking to add new faces. They’re on a mission to “Establish new growth drivers through diverse artist activities and target the global market to continually enhance shareholder value.”

Fancy corporate speak for “We’re about to shake things up big time.” And with Yang Hyun Suk personally investing a whopping 20 billion KRW, it’s clear they mean business.

Yang Hyun Suk has bought 20 billion won of stocks from YG Entertainment, increasing his share from 16.8% to 19.3%

However, not everyone’s singing along to this tune. Korean netizens, the ever-vocal backbone of K-pop fandom, have their eyebrows raised. They’re like,

“YG, what about TREASURE and BABYMONSTER? And hey, what’s the deal with BLACKPINK’s individual activities?”

It’s like YG’s juggling more balls than a circus clown, and the audience is waiting to see if any will drop.

Meanwhile, TREASURE is busy prepping new music post their Japanese tour, and BABYMONSTER? They’re dropping a new single and an EP, so at least there’s some action there.

So, here’s where we’re at: YG’s playing a high-stakes game of musical chairs, and we’re all eager to see who gets a seat when the music stops.

On a more positive note, all member of Blackpink have renewed their contract. As long as Blackpink is in your area, YG will remain relevant.

What do you think? Are we on the verge of witnessing the next big thing in K-pop, or is YG stretching themselves too thin? Will these new groups capture hearts like their predecessors, or will they be just a flash in the pan?

Chime in with your thoughts, predictions, and wild guesses. After all, in the world of K-pop, anything’s possible!

From a little girl who wrote school plays and made her friends act in them to an adolescent who got into dark humor, Yashica has built her own universe of peculiar characters inspired by great cinema. She has imbibed the philosophies of David Fincher's characters but lives like the eccentricity of Phoebe Waller Bridge's women. Her metahumans are those who can use the power of words to create an elixir of emotions and bring them to life on screen. Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Ilana-Abbi, Raj-DK, Anurag Kashyap, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and others are her Marvel's Avengers. With over two years of experience as a content writer, her writing pieces are well-researched, with a sprinkle of her opinions/inferences that keep the audiences engaged. She is still exploring more on the anime scene but is highly intrigued by it. The cinephile in her makes her appreciate the intricacies of filmmaking. You will get a lot more insight into it in her articles and thoroughly enjoy her explanations. Well, someday, you might see Yashica as one of the writers for a movie-- it's her ultimate dream!
