Vin Diesel is trending online for an accusation that has broken everyone’s trust in Hollywood celebs. Diesel has been accused of sexual assault as well as battery in 2010 by Asta Jonasson.
As expected, the news spread like wildfire, with people online having a variety of reactions to this accusation. But who is Asta? And what are her actual allegations?
Asta Jonasson filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on December 21, 2023, accusing Vin Diesel of sexual battery. She joined Vin Diesel’s One Race Films in September 2010 as an assistant. The alleged assault transpired at The St Regis Atlanta hotel during the filming of “Fast Five” in 2010. Diesel allegedly pulled her onto his bed, engaged in unwanted physical contact, and also began masturbating. Jonasson was reportedly fired the next day.
Who Is Asta Jonasson? What Is She Accusing Vin Diesel of?
Famous Hollywood actor Vin Diesel is currently facing serious allegations of sexual assault and battery stemming from an incident that occurred in 2010.
His former assistant, Asta Jonasson, has come forward with these claims, sparking a legal battle that could have far-reaching implications.
Asta Jonasson, described as a dedicated TV and film professional with a decade of experience in the industry, was hired by Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, in September 2010 to work directly for the actor.
Her responsibilities included organizing events and staying close to Vin Diesel during parties, mainly when he was without his long-time girlfriend and the mother of his children.
The alleged assault took place at The St Regis Atlanta hotel in 2010 while Jonasson was working as Vin Diesel’s assistant during the filming of “Fast Five” in Georgia.
According to court documents, Jonasson entered Diesel’s bedroom to inform him that his security team had advised him to leave the hotel.
It’s at this point that the alleged assault occurred, with Diesel purportedly grabbing her wrists, pulling her onto the bed, and initiating unwanted physical contact.
The lawsuit further alleges that Diesel forcibly hugged, kissed, and groped Jonasson while she pleaded for him to stop.
Despite her efforts to escape, the actor is accused of persisting in his advances, even attempting to remove her underwear and making her touch his private parts.
Jonasson describes feeling terrified and having to dissociate from reality to endure the ordeal.
The accusations do not end there, as the court documents also claim that Diesel began masturbating during the incident.
Following these disturbing events, Jonasson was allegedly fired by Diesel’s sister and the president of One Race Films the next day.
The lawsuit was filed in the city of Los Angeles on December 21, 2023, under the state’s Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act, which allows victims to sue despite specific statutes of limitations.
It also reveals a prior incident involving another supervisor at One Race who summoned Jonasson to a bedroom at the Atlanta hotel and made inappropriate advances.
Along with the charges of sexual assault and battery, the lawsuit includes allegations of gender-based discrimination, wrongful termination, and retaliation, among other claims.
Diesel’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has stated that this is the first time Vin Diesel has heard of these allegations in over 13 years and that there is evidence to refute them.
Meanwhile, Claire-Lise Y. Kutlay, an attorney for Jonasson, has highlighted the importance of speaking out against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.
One key question is why Jonasson is filing this lawsuit after a decade. The suit explains that she was required to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that prevented her from discussing any aspect of her work with Diesel.
However, the Me Too movement and the protection provided by the Speak Out Act have empowered her to come forward despite the NDA.
Jonasson is seeking a jury trial and damages in her pursuit of justice.
As the case unfolds, everyone will be watching closely to see how this troubling situation is resolved.
