Omid Scobie’s latest book, titled ENDGAME: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, has stirred the news lately. Scobie is a journalist, writer, and royal biographer best known for co-authoring the best-seller Finding Freedom. The book chronicles the lives of the royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Endgame is a sequel to Finding Freedom and documents the events following Harry and Meghan’s departure from Buckingham Palace and Queen Elizabeth’s death.
The book has been on the news for a controversial claim suggesting Meghan Markle named two people from the royal family who were racist towards her and made inappropriate comments about her son Archie’s skin color before he was born.
The couple revealed the information for the first time in their viral interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was recorded in March 2021. Meghan Markle opened up about members of the royal family raising “concerns” about how Archie’s skin color could be. However, the couple did not name anyone or share any hints about their identity.
In Endgame, Omid Scobie claims that he knows the identity of the two racist members of the royal family. However, he did not reveal their identity as laws in the U.K. prevented him from doing so.
However, things quickly went out of hand as the Dutch translations of Scobie’s book accidentally revealed the identity of one of the racist members.
While the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame never specifically mentioned any names, it mentions that one Royal Family member asked what color Harry and Meghan’s son will be reflecting that this person might be a rasict. Soon, the publishers of Endgame received instructions to keep sales of the book on hold until further instruction. Scobie denied naming any member in his book.
Although we were close to knowing the identity of the racist members of the family, the publishers have become extra careful now. So, the identity of the racist royals remains a mystery, like many other dark secrets of the royal family.
Did Meghan Markle Name The Racist Royal in Scobie’s Book?
According to Omid Scobie, Meghan Markle wrote confidential letters to King Charles III, where she named two members of the royal family who were racist to her and her son.
Scobie claims that he is sure of the identity of both members but cannot reveal them due to legal restrictions preventing him from reporting it. He also mentioned that he never mentioned the royals in his book, and the Dutch translation of the book naming is a “translation error.”
“The book is in several languages, and unfortunately, I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control. I wrote and edited the English version. There’s never been no version that I’ve produced that has names in it.”
Xander Publishers, who were in charge of the Dutch version of the book, has confirmed that there was a translation error in the book. They receive strict instructions to stop the book sales until further notice. As per a representative, it could be long before the Dutch translation is on sale again.
Netizens have pointed out that the entire fiasco could be a publicity stunt begun by Meghan Markle. People from Britain are of the opinion that Markle is jealous and wants to separate Prince Harry from the royal family.
On the contrary, many have raised concerns about the dark reality of the royal family and condemned the ‘witch-hunt’ directed at Meghan Markle.
