The Murder of Dee Dee Blanchard was among the most influential things in 2015, and the life of Gypsy Rose, the victim who turned into a murderer, has even inspired a Hulu series titled The Act.
While her tragic life has resonated with many individuals, her involvement in the murder of her own mother left a dark spot in her life. Nonetheless, the latest update on her prison release kept people paying attention to her.
Gypsy Rose Blachard, 32, who was convicted for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blachard, along with her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, in July 2016, is set to be released on parole on December 28, 2023. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, who stabbed Dee Dee, has been sentenced to life in prison.
Gypsy Rose: What Crime Did She Commit and When Will She Be Released From Prison?
The story of Gypsy Rose is incredibly sad, with most of her life revolving around abuse and trauma.
Apparently, Dee Dee Blanchard, Gypsy’s mother, subjected her to a rare form of abuse by falsely claiming that she had various illnesses such as muscular dystrophy, leukemia, and other conditions.
Consequently, she had to undergo a lot of surgeries, even though she was perfectly normal, and was forced to use a wheelchair when she didn’t have to. Due to her constant tormentation, she decided to take her mother’s life.
Eventually, she conspired with her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, and he carried out the murder while she hid in the bathroom. As a result, she was sentenced to ten years, while Nick now serves a lifetime in prison.
She reportedly met her boyfriend on the internet, and they both met each other, leading to the murder, where Nick has stabbed Dee Dee seventeen times.
Following the murder, both were taken to separate prisons, and the couple separated shortly, but Gypsy ended up marrying Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022. However, she eventually split with him in a few months as well.
Gypsy Rose is set to be released on December 28, 2023, serving around 85% of her sentence. It turns out that even before her arrest in 2016, she spent some time in the Green County Jail, leading to her reduction of prison time.
In addition to Hulu’s The Act, Gypsy’s life story was adapted into a documentary, Mommy Dead and Dearest, by HBO in 2017. So, if you want more clear details on her case, it will provide information in greater detail.
That being said, many people are happy that Gypsy will finally be out of prison and believe that she did not deserve such a long time in prison, even though she was involved in her mother’s murder.
