One Charioteer guides the largest country in the world and is deemed one of TIME’s most influential people in 2022. The controversial leader (or a ruler) needs no introduction as the iron-willed man walks among the majority of the world that opposed him, yet no one can ignore him.
Born on October 7, 1952, Vladimir Putin started as an intelligence officer. His patriotism and ideologies raised him up the ranks, and he eventually got his foot in the Kremlin, first as the director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), later assuming as secretary of the Security Council of Russia.
And then, the course of Russian history changed forever when he earned power as the president in 1999. Since then, Putin has been loved, respected, worshipped, feared, detested, condemned, and, most importantly, considered a man of power.
But the recent news shocked the world as Russia’s future was left hanging.
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, news surfaced stating that Vladimir Putin suffered a cardiac arrest at around 9:05 p.m. Moscow time. The reports originated from a Telegram channel, “General SVR,” reportedly run by a former Russian Lieutenant General. However, no confirmation on these reports has been determined yet.
What Happened to Putin?
The Kremlin is already facing an internal crisis amidst the Wagner group conflict. The tensions emerged after Yevgeny Prigozhin, chief of the Wagner Russian Mercenary Group, was killed in a fatal plane crash. Moreover, Prigozhin was one of the closest associates of Putin, leading the forefront during the Ukraine war.
The chief’s sudden death is a ticking timebomb in Russian politics as the Wagner militant forces are gearing up for retaliation, suspecting Putin’s hands in staging the crash.
Previously, the 71-year-old president waged a war against Ukraine, leading to a massive setback in international affairs.
In the recent update, the Russian president returned from a visit to Kyrgyzstan and was scheduled to meet with the Chinese head of state Xi Jinping in Beijing. However, the recent news of his healthcare also raised conspiracy theories that he might be using body doubles for foreign affairs. However, there is no validation of any of these claims.
Some sources claimed that Putin’s health is jeopardized because of the added stress from the ongoings on the Kremlin.
Did Putin Have a Heart Attack?
On October 22, 2023, a Telegram channel, General SVR, broke the news that Vladimir Putin had an episode of cardiac arrest. The channel is reportedly moderated and run by the former Kremlin insider. Here are the claims made by the post-–
“Doctors performed resuscitation, having previously determined that the president was in cardiac arrest.
“Help was provided on time, the heart was started and Putin regained consciousness.”
“At about 9 pm Moscow time, security officers of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who were on duty at the residence, heard noise and sounds of falling coming from the president’s bedroom.
“Two security officers immediately followed into the president’s bedroom and saw Putin lying on the floor next to the bed and an overturned table with food and drinks.
“Probably, when the president fell, he hit the table and dishes and knocked them onto the floor, which caused the noise.
“Putin convulsively arched while lying on the floor, rolling his eyes.
“The doctors who were on duty at the residence and located in one of the adjacent rooms were immediately called.”
Disclaimer: These claims are not confirmed as of writing this article. Hence, it is yet to be determined whether Putin really had a heart attack.
What is your take on this? Do you think Putin suffered from a heart attack, or is this another coy? Do you believe that Putin is too old to lead the nation further?
