Graduation is a milestone and a transition to the real world. Every teenage dream is to graduate from the school phase to real life.
But the same situation can go in two different ways, and this case highlights the “nature vs nurture” paradigm between two teenagers whose lives would be intertwined in the worst way possible.
On one end, the Holloways doted on their daughter, Natalee, a well-behaved, jovial, determined, and ambitious young girl. An 18-year-old Natalee was excited about her high school graduation trip 2005 to Aruba. But on one unfateful night, a monster changed the lives of the Holloways, whose nightmare ended after 18 years.
On the other side of the world, a family was harboring a problematic teenager, while the parents enabled his behavior.
Over the years, the young boy passed into his darkest side and exhibited criminal conduct. Had it not been for the blatant ignorance of their son’s actions, two families and a promising young woman’s lives would have been far more different and happier.
Then, the two sides coincided on May 30, 2005, in Aruba, when Natalee Holloway, an Alabama teenager, visited the island for her high school graduation trip. After meeting three strangers at a nightclub, Natalee was last seen heading out with Joran Van Der Sloot.
The two went to the nearby beach, where the night escalated forcibly. Sloot made a sexual pass at Natalee, which she instantly retaliated with a sharp hit on his crotch. The fragile fool Sloot got triggered by her rejection and struck her head with a cinder block. He proceeded to throw her bleeding body into the ocean.
After nearly two decades, the now 36-year-old Sloot confessed to killing the young girl eons ago while he was already serving his sentence for killing another woman on the same date he killed Natalee, but five years later.
In 2010, Sloot stooped to the lowest when he made fraudulent calls to the Holloways and claimed to give information on Natalee’s whereabouts in exchange for $250,000. Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway, even paid $25000 in desperation to find her missing daughter for about five years. But the scum extorted money from the family on top of killing their daughter.
Joran Van Der Sloot was the prime suspect, for which he was arrested in 2005 but then released due to insufficient evidence. At that time, Beth Holloway visited Sloot’s parents, who displayed oddly unhinged behavior. Holloway recalls her uncanny meeting with the Van Der Sloots after the 36-year-old confessed to killing and disposing of Natalee’s body.

Who Are Joran Van Der Sloot’s Parents? Beth Holloway Recalls Her Meeting With The Killer’s Parents
Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway, sits down with News Max’s anchor Greta Van Susteren to discuss the deranged parenting of the Van Der Sloots.
Just a few months after Natalee’s disappearance, Beth was handing out prayer cards in the community when she realized she had stumbled across the Van Der Sloot’s residence. The parents, who were in the home’s front yard, invited Beth for a quick chat that lasted for 90 minutes.
Holloway recalled Anita sobbing uncontrollably when talking about her son while Paul was sweating profusely, knowing well that his son was guilty. Anita started the conversation with high praises for her son. At one point, she even exclaimed “that [Joran] was doing so well in his anger management classes.”
But a few moments later, Beth noticed that the conversation had derailed as the parents talked about Joran’s troublesome behavior from childhood to teenage years when he would go on tangents of violent outbursts towards his siblings while under the helm of drug and alcohol abuse. Beth told Vanity Fair–
“She was saying they were beginning to have trouble with Joran [for a] defiant attitude. The father acknowledged they could not control him. He would sneak out, go gambling in the pre-dawn hours. They had no control over him.”
According to the Crime Library database, some instances recorded that Paul would give money to Joran, fuelling his gambling habits.
Joran Van Der Sloot’s Family History Explained
Paulus Van Der Sloot was designated to a coveted attorney position in government law. He aspired to get promoted as a judge and made an influential name for himself in the community. Whereas, Anita Van Der Sloot was a quiet and reserved art teacher.
Paul was once involved in a legal battle with the Dutch government since highway construction would run through the family’s estate. He won the case, but shortly after, the family soon moved across the Atlantic.
Considering his influence, Paulus abused his power by misleading the authorities when interrogated about Joran’s whereabouts on the night of Natalee’s murder. Paulus lied and said that Joran went to a club to gamble. However, by the time the cops reached the spot to verify his statement, Joran had already returned home.
Paul was also arrested in 2005 as one of the suspects in Natalee’s disappearance but was released after interrogation and no substantial evidence against him. He died in 2010 after he collapsed due to a heart attack during a tennis match. Anita is currently living in Aruba.
Joran Van Der Sloot’s Parents Net Worth

He is currently serving a 20-year sentence for Natalee Holloway’s murder, while the Aruban judge had already ordered a 35-year sentence for the murder of Stephany Flores Ramírez and trafficking drugs inside the prison.

Joran Van der SlooIt aged 18 is every parents WORST nightmare. HE was a pathological liar and skilled manipulator. A full blown psychopath. I think his parents lived in Fear and dread of him.
