One such name is Lee Sun Gyun, who resonates with the essence of talent and charisma. He is known for his outstanding acting skills and a portfolio that spans over two decades. 

However, fame, like a double-edged sword, often casts a shadow of curiosity and intrigue. Recently, his name has been dragged into a looming investigation in a drug-related scandal. Lee Sun-kyun is a South Korean actor known for his roles in Parasite and Coffee Prince. According to reports, as of October 19th, he is under investigation for suspected drug use. Lee is accused of using marijuana and paying a significant sum of money to the dealer. Lee’s agency, HODU&U Entertainment, has released an official statement stating that he filed a complaint of blackmail against another person involved in the drug case.

Lee Sun-kyun was born on March 2, 1975, in Seoul, South Korea. He is one of the most prominent actors and is known for his versatile performances. He initially worked in musical theater and spent years in minor and supporting roles on screen. Soon after, he landed lead roles in one-act dramas on KBS Drama City and MBC Best Theater. 

This was the turning point of his life. Following the events, he soon landed on mainstream dramas, beginning with the role in “Taereung National Village” (2005). Which eventually led him to get the role of “Coffee Prince” in 2007. 

This role led him towards fame and success in the Korean entertainment industry. He then captivated audiences with amazing roles in the drama including, “Pasta” (2010), “Golden Time” (2012), and “My Mister” (2018). He further worked in movies as well, including “Paju” (2009), “Helpless” (2012), “All About My Wife” (2012), “A Hard Day” (2014), and “Parasite” (2019). 

The film ‘Parasite,’ released in 2019, became an Oscar-winning black comedy. His performance in this groundbreaking film was further rewarded by a “Screen Actors Guild Award” alongside his talented castmates.

It is said that when fame rises to its peak, it is followed by accusations and controversies. Olsen Twins were dragged into the drug controversy, Celsius brand faced accusations of using drugs in their drinks. Once again, a famous name is dragged into the drug controversy, Lee Sun Gyun. 

On October 19, Gyeonggi Shinmun published a report revealing the investigation going on by Lee Sun Gyun, identified as “L” in the report, along with seven other individuals. They are being investigated by the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit. The individuals face charges related to violations of the Drugs Control Act.

The investigation department reported, 

“While investigating drug-related activities primarily within entertainment establishments in Gangnam, we obtained information that a celebrity is involved in drug use. We are currently conducting an internal investigation involving eight individuals including L, a male actor in his 40s.”

Furthermore, according to Gyeonggi Shinmun, the actor ‘L’ is alleged to have provided a substantial sum of money to the supplier. They further presented the statement made by the investigation team, saying, 

“It is true that L provided a significant amount of money to the drug supplier while engaged in marijuana use. We estimate the amount to be around 300 million won (approximately $221,900).”

Following the chaos, Lee’s company, HODU&U Entertainment, came forward and released an official statement confirming that the actor was cooperating with the investigation. The company further informed that Lee has also pressed charges against individual A, for threatening and blackmailing him.

Fans are both shocked and saddened by the news. Few are supporting him for being an adult, while few believe that he might be blackmailed. Some also hinted that his name is being used to cover up a political issue.
