Sexyy Red was painting the internet town red, trending for an unfortunate incident on October 4, 2023. The 25-year-old rapper found herself in quite a pickle when her Instagram story sent a collective shock wave to her 2.5 million followers.
As soon as people tapped on her profile bubble, a story popped up that no one was ready for. The “Pound Town” rapper was seen in a compromising position with an unidentified man. The explicit story baffled her fans; it has since gone viral.
However, Janae Nierah Wherry, aka Sexyy Red, was unaware of the NSFW story. She clarified her stance immediately, stating that she would never do such a thing. She posted a tweet saying–
“I’m so heartbroken anybody that kno me knows I wouldn’t do no goofy sh*t like that.”
After the debacle, the internet went into a frenzy with divided opinions. And the case unraveled more bizarre reactions.
On October 5, “Sexyy Red Dead” was trending on Twitter. However, it’s just a hoax, and Janae Nierah Wherry is very much alive. Twiteratti might have figuratively mentioned Sexyy Red was dead due to the viral images circulating from the leaked sex tape. At the same time, some spread the rumors that Sexyy Redd is dead because she was ashamed of the Instagram story. Regardless, the rumors are utterly false.
Is Sexyy Red Dead?
Janae Nierah Wherry, the rapper from St. Louis, has been performing in the headlines and being in the headlines at the same time. Earlier last month, Sexyy Red was lauded as the headliner for Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour and recently earned a feature on his new album.
But the series of controversies began when she appeared as a guest on Theo von’s podcast, This Past Weekend. There she made remarks about former president Donald Trump, resulting in a massive hate wave against her.
She said in the podcast–
“I like Trump.”
“Yeah, they support him in the hood. At first I don’t think people was f**king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little sh*t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Aww baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks. Them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you.”
“I love Trump. He funny to me. I used to be watching him talking to people. He used to be calling people fat. He just bold. He funny. We need people like him.”
Her fans were disappointed in her stance, as she received a flood of criticisms for being a “Trump Supporter.”
The second scandal shook her entire fandom with her leaked sex tape. Some of her fans showed empathy for violating her privacy and leaking her intimate moments without consent. In contrast, a majority of the netizens trolled her instead.
One of the reasons Sexyy Red Dead was trending was because people were referring to her sex tape. However, as a matter of fact, the rapper is alive and thriving and gearing up for her next release.
Why Are People Searching For This?
As the hashtag trended on Twitter, more people got curious to check whether Sexyy Redd was actually dead. As it turns out, there could have been two possibilities–
- Someone sparked the rumors that Sexyy Read was dead (as a metaphor) since her leaked sex tape must have caused her shame to death.
- Another guess was that the images from her explicit story show quite unusual expressions, which led people to refer to her as dead.
Last month, the rapper was indirectly involved in another controversy where speculations suggested someone was shot while filming her music video. However, these rumors were debunked by the rapper herself when she stated that the gun shooting happened on the street opposite the location of the music video.
